          How did you get this phone already? I've heard rumors that it was for sale but Apple says that they won't start selling it until November.

          I don't know the answer to your question-sorry.

            its ok

            the rumor is correct . buy an off contract ATT iphone 4s from apple store = UNLOCKED .

            i told them i am buying it as a present for a friend

            i opened in the store put in my cut out sim and voila .... iphone 4s tmobile

              OK. I heard that, too. My question is, does the box say "for use on AT&T" or something similar? I don't trust that AT&T won't come back later saying that this was a mistake and try to get Apple to relock the phones.

              • 4. Re: MMS factory unlocked iPhone 4s ???

                i do not have anything saying att  . on receipt yes .

                i did not give my nr or my name to anyone there (nobody asked)

                as far as att looks at it , i am a +1 iphone sold in their part.

                if smtg like that  will happen (locking my phone) ebay will be my choice of solving that dilema plus i could drop the thing tmr on my tile .. i am a pozitive thinker , dont sweat the small stuff ...

                if , maybe , so , .... not my thing...

                right now i am using siri and i am a proud TMobile customer

                • 5. Re: MMS factory unlocked iPhone 4s ???

                  carrier MMS settings to fit T-Mobile’s network:

                  • Tap on Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network
                  • Adjust the settings as follows:
                  • Cellular Data APN: wap.voicestream.com
                  • MMS APN: wap.voicestream.com
                  • MMSC http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
                  • MMS Proxy 216.155.165.50:8080
                  • MMS Max Message Size 1048576
                  • MMS UA Prof URL http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf
                  • Leave Username and Password empty
                  • Save the settings and reboot your iPhone again

                  Now MMS should work on your unlocked iPhone

                  • 6. Re: MMS factory unlocked iPhone 4s ???

                    I'm having the same issue - I can send MMS but unable to receive picture messages.  However, the funny thing is that I can receive any video messages just fine.  I've tried all variants of MMS settings.  I'm going to flash back to stock again and see what happens.  Does the SIM card have anything to do with it?  Previously I had a iPhone 4 and all MMS functionality is fine.

                      • 8. Re: MMS factory unlocked iPhone 4s ???

                        This is going to sound crazy, but I have tested it in exchanging MMS messages with other iPhones on T-Mobile, Verizon and AT&T and also with Email accounts

                        1. Backup your iPhone 4S in iTunes

                        2. Download, install and open iBackupBot (Google it)

                        3. Select your recent iPhone backup

                        4. Find and open the file named "com.apple.mms_override.plist"

                        5. Delete the text in this file and replace it with

                        <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

                        <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

                        <key>UserAgent</key>

                        <string>SonyEricssonW800i/R1L</string>

                        </dict>

                        </dict>

                        </plist>

                        6. Save the changes

                        7. Exit iBackupBot and open iTunes

                        8. Restore your iPhone with the most recent backup

                        9. After your iPhone reboots go to Settings>General>Network and turn on Data Roaming

                        10. While still in Network settings go to >Cellular Data Network and enter "epc.tmobile.com" as the APN for Cellular Data and Internet Tethering

                        11. Enter the following for MMS settings:

                              APN: wap.cingular

                              MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms

                              MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080

                              NOTE: Leave all other fields empty, if they have anything in them, delete it.

                        12. Reboot

                        I have no clue why wap.cingular works for T-Mobile customers, nor do I care. But as mentioned before, I have exchanged MMS with other phones and email accounts.

                          Awesome - this method works!

                          The only thing I did different was that I used the following info:

                          <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
                          <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
                          <plist version="1.0">
                          <dict>
                          <key>MMS</key>
                          <dict>
                          <key>GroupModeEnabled</key>
                          <false/>
                          <key>MMSC</key>
                          <string>http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc</string>
                          <key>MaxMessageSize</key>
                          <integer>1048576</integer>
                          <key>MaxRecipients</key>
                          <integer>10</integer>
                          <key>MaxVideoBitrate</key>
                          <integer>131072</integer>
                          <key>Proxy</key>
                          <string>216.155.165.50:8080</string>
                          <key>UAProf</key>
                          <string>http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf</string>
                          <key>UserAgent</key>
                          <string>SonyEricssonW800i/R1L</string>
                          </dict>
                          </dict>
                          </plist>

                          I was able to use epc.tmobile.com for the APN and now everything works!

                            You my freind just fixed my problem of over a year on my factory unlocked iphone 4. I tried everything out there, googled this problem over and over and anything i tried failed!

                            The only thing is i didnt have to change any network settings at all. It was already all there filled in, i sent a pic from a site that was giving me the dreaded media content error and i got a pic for the very first time on this phone! you rock!

                                Test by sending yourself a pic from PixDrop.com or have someone send you a pic.

                                Also you dont have to buy iBackupbot for this, when the pop up asking you to buy and register happeneds just end the page and the program will open up delete all of the text then go up to scullens post and copy all of the text he posted, it will take ctrl+v to paste it into iBackupbot, restart iphone and you should be good.

                                  Would you know how to make the web faster when you tether a mobile device to your hotspot? i currently get only 4 kbs download, i can't deal with it.
