To clarify, it's in my village that I only have 2G. I'm expecting to have 4G when elsewhere. So that's why I don't want to see my 2G use count against the 4G ceiling.
That is how it works.
Your first <insert high speed data allotment>GB of data, no matter the speed, counts towards your <insert high speed data allotment>GB cap.
The good news is T-Mobile is working on a project that hopefully most of their subscribers will have high speed data access by the end of the year.

I'm guessing most T-Mobile subscribers have high speed access now. I was reading somewhere that the general direction of the industry is to eliminate 2G access entirely, to free up the bandwidth. I wonder which will come first to my town in Vermont - 4G, or 2G disappearing? Is there an aspirational map somewhere showing where T-Mobile's 4G build out is happening?
