I want to buy a contract free iphone 6 from United States which comes with a T-mobile nano sim. However, I have to go to Pakistan and use the phone over there with a local carrier. That means I want it to be unlocked internationally. What is the procedure for that? Would I be charged anything for it?
Some people have reported that when you buy the the "Contract Free" T-Mobile iPhone 6 directly from Apple it shows up unlocked. I can't vouch for that, it's just what I've heard.
I Had a chat with apple support today and they said that I have to get the phone unlocked for international use. They were not sure but they said it would be free of charge and T-mobile guys can tell the procedure.
Can we have a response from T-Mobile representative about this problem?
If Tmobile unlocks them you need to meet the requirements in this link.
Unlock your mobile wireless device
I believe there is no charge when it comes to TMobile unlocking phones for their customers. HOwever, there are eligibilities that needs to be met... YOu can always call customer care to have it verified.
Guys I am not in US at the moment. Can anybody call T-Mobile helpline (1-800-866-2453) on my behalf and inquire if they can unlock the $649 iphone 6 right away when it is purchased and what will be the procedure.
It'll be a great favor
You need to purchase an uncarrier branded iPhone from the Apple store.
Tmobile phones are sim locked.
Official Apple Store - Buy the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus - Apple Store (U.S.)
That is the biggest problem. Noncarrier Iphone 6 which is also called "Sim Free" is not available yet. Thats why the only solution is to get international unlock from T-Mobile
You still need to call Apple. Tmobile sells locked phones.
There's nothing that Tmobile can do to give you an unlock code
without meeting the requirements.
I am in Colombia and received my iPhone 6 4 days ago. I updated to 8.0.2 and the international data doesn't work at all. I tried the 2 "partner" carriers here and neither one works. Ironically, when I had my old Blackberry on the same number international data indeed worked as EDGE. I called TM and they opened a ticket with engineering. Also, they said they don't have the information to unlock it as of yet available and I had to wait the 40 days.
naeemullahkhan85 you may need to contact one of your friends here in U.S. to call on your behalf coz they need to have an email address to send the procedure and the unlock code and the exact imei of your phone. And the whole procedure can be done for just 24 hours.
iPhones purchased though T-Mobile will be locked to the network until unlock eligibility is met and a request is made. These requirements can be found here:Unlock your mobile wireless device. Thank you!
