I recently switched to T mobile and I cannot get data to work on my verizon Galaxy S4. Calling and texting are working, but data is not. I created a t mobile access point name with the following information:
I am not sure what else to do to get this phone working for t mobile. Please help!!
I don't think the Verizon version of the GS4 has the proper bands to support T-Mobile's Data Network. I'm not a 100% sure on this, but I believe that is the reason.
Your phone does not have the bands for T-Mobile's LTE network. If you are in a refarmed area, you can access HSPA+ with this phone. Change your APN to epc.tmobile.com to see if this helps.
Generic T-Mobile data settings
Good to know that you were able to get a Samsung Galaxy S 4.
You actually need to manually configure the APN settings of the phone.
Here are the settings that you ONLY need to modify:
Remaining settings, just leave it that way. You need to change the fast.t-mobile.com to epc.tmobile.com since your device is not compatible with Tmo 4G LTE network. Please remember this as well: Non-T-Mobile phone & software disclaimer
You guys are all awesome! Thank you for taking the time to reply, I made the changes and my data now works! Do you know though, can I get 4G, just not 4G LTE? or can I only get 3G?
You can get 4G service with HSPA+. It may not read as 4G on your phone (I think that it will, though) because it is not a T-Mobile phone.
Well, since your device is from Verizon, I guess you won't be able to get a 4G but an H icon might show at the top of the screen of the phone. Just for the heads up, that H icon will show only in areas that has been fully modernized by Tmobile. Most likely, you can get a 3G connection in some places.
Hi, How did you unlock your galaxy S4 ?
You have to contact the original service provider of the phone to get it unlock for you.
I have a Samsung galaxy S3 from Verizon, its unlocked, but I cant get the data to work, I have tried everything you guys have wrote above.
I have a Verizon S4. Everything working. Except I can't get 3G or HSPA+. Only Edge is working (Which I totally I'm very unsatisfied). Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is it because Yakima doesn't have the Frequencies/bands Fully Deployed?
Try putting the phone on GSM/UMTS or Global
The Verizon Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545) doesn't support 1700 Mhz for HSPA so will only work in a T-Mobile re-farmed market. It will only work 2G Edge otherwise. According to spec sheet it does however support Band 4 LTE so should get LTE in the T-Mobile LTE markets.
I have a ATT unlocked GS4 and am having the same inssues. No matter what I change the APN to I cant get my 4g to email@example.com
