A shot in the dark.... When you looked in settings, did you have protocol options, and did you try each one?
Is there any error message? What specific symptoms (what is the VPN doing that you can see)? …. Idea here is something to search on at Lookout support.
Following on the above, if you have a setting with PPTP selected, suggest trying another selection and testing. Make note of what you did so you can return the settings to the way they were if that doesn't work.
