Draining when OFF

emilyp7

My phone is OFF, plugged in, showing that it's charging, but losing battery power.  How and why?

There are quite a few reasons for this to happen.  Mainly, I would guess the charger isn't providing enough charging power to offset the power drain on the device.  All cellular devices consume power, even when off.  Potentially, the devices battery might need replacing.  Old batteries or defective batteries can produce some unusual issues.  Have you tried a factory reset of the device and not installing any new apps to see if you can narrow down the usage to see if it is a rogue app causing the excess drain?

Got rid of several apps. Still eats battery. I don't have money to replace it.

What kind of device is this specifically? Have you looked at the battery usage in the settings to see what is using all the battery power?

                  Re: Draining when OFF

It may be the battery. The good thing is that it's replaceable, unlike newer phones. I had to replace mine not too long ago. Phone works fine now.

Also, have you tried another wall charger yet??

Righty Oh, and thank goodness batteries are pretty reasonable- you can check out Amazon here.  Also, the instructions for removing the battery are located here.
