Re: will the new OnePlus 7 PRO phone work with all of TMO's upcoming 5G bands

I'd be skeptical too. GSMarena.com lists two OnePlus 7 Pro models: one is 5G NR the other is not.
The 7 Pro 5G appears to be not made for T-Mobile as it doesn't list band 71. The non-5G model lists band 71.
I personally don't think that T-Mobile's 5G is going to be all that good unless and until they get their hands on Sprint's 2.5 GHz licenses.

The simple answer is, neither work on 5G in North America.

Well I know the OnePlus 7 Pro does support TMobile's 600Mz (Band 71) so that's not correct.
My question was more about any future TMO 5G frequency bands besides 71 that I might want to use in consideration of whether to buy the OnePlus 7 Pro
or not. I know that Sprint's 5G is using Band 25 so "if" TMO & Sprint are allowed to merge then I'd want a phone that supports both Band 71 and 25 but I was asking about whether TMO had any other Frequency Bands planned for implementation & use for 5G.

I guess I have to take that back... about Band 71.
Geez the more I learn about the 5G spectrum and the Carriers the more complex it gets.
From what I've now read... just having support for Band 71 ... is NOT the same as having support for Band 71NR (new radio). 71NR is needed to have actual 5G capabilities on the 600Mhz spectrum.

Band 71 for LTE and band 71 for 5G require two completely different radios. The OnePlus 7 Pro does not have the 5G radio needed for band 71NR. There is a OnePlus 7 Pro 5G coming later in the year. Tue international version is compatible with some of Europe's already deployed 5G networks. If you used it on Verizon in one of their 5G deployed spots, it would not work for 5G.

AFAIK, Sprint doesn't have any 5G and their band 25 holdings would be inadequate to support 5G speeds. That would require their substantial band 41 (2.5 GHz) holdings. Sure they've been making lots of "5G Ready" noises but that's not 5G.,
You have to be careful that any phone will support "5G NR" There are other types of "5G" that are not compatible with what T-Mobile will be using.

Probably not, because it won't have the updated Qualcomm 5G modem that it needs to work on T-Mobile's 5G network. I am more concerned about getting timely software updates.

I have inquired with OnePlus directly as to whether the last few OP models were 5G ready, and have been told they "are already 5G phones", which is a total lie and contradicted the articles I was reading at the time. Those phones may be 'compatible', but they don't have the hardware to take full advantage of 5G speeds. The only currently OP 5G phone is available only through Sprint, with the Tmobile variant coming at some later date.
I have complained to OP about their lying customer service reps and am glad I didn't bite on purchasing a non-5G model based upon the lies.

Not defending either OnePlus or T-Mobile. You are correct that none of the
current OnePlus models are 5G capable. They do have a 4G band 71 ( 600 MHz)
radio. Even the upcoming 5G OnePlus 7T won't have the correct antenna to
work on MM wave. So it will only work with their slower 5G. I really do
wish that I could get the OTA Android 10 update for my OnePlus 7 Pro. Even
under developed countries have the update, why can't we?
