          It does depend on the device and the bands it supports, but if the device supports bands 2, 4, 5, 12, 66, and or 71.  You shouldn't have any issues getting 4G.  The more of those the device has, the better.

              I think one question that needs to be asked is, exactly what does galvez916 mean by "4G"? Do they mean T-Mobile "4G" (i.e. HSPA+) or actual 4G (i.e. LTE).

               

              In any case, I have a new Motorola G7 Power en route that answers "yes" to all the above. Some of their E5 series also support all T-Mobile's bands. As you say, you have be sure of the bands and for that you have to know how to read the specs. Some of the G7 and E5 phones don't support band-71. I think the new OnePlus 6 supports all T-Mobile's bands too. Also, assuming that the T-Mobile/Sprint merger gets approved, I'd want to add bands 25, 26 & 41 to that list.
