But are you able to adjust it if you turn OFF auto brightness? I'm not sure if I've ever had a phone that would allow me to make adjustments while the auto was turned on. Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding the issue? If so, I apologize.

Yes, the phone can adjust brightness with auto turned off. However, LG phones are notorious for having a very low lux auto brightness, other variants of the G7 phone are able to compensate for this by manually sliding the brightness while the auto selector is on... Except for the T-Mobile. I'm pasting a couple links that reference this issue. Just looking to see if anyone knows weather T-Mobile is already working on this issue.

Ah, I gotcha. I can tell you that I'm not thinking this is something that is currently being worked on after checking the Known Issues for the G7 in my resources. I did fool around with the Lux Lite - Apps on Google Play app mentioned in the article a bit and it was pretty interesting!

Yeah it's a shame that LG auto brightness feature is way too dark. Therefore, we are stuck using manual mode, or having to try to read a screen that is very dark but cannot be brightened without removing Auto all together. There are a few blogs in the XDA forum about this only being an issue on T-Mobile. I'm adding another link below.

I'm using an LG V30 and mine does the same thing. I can't adjust the brightness if it's set to Auto. I'm guessing it's by design.

I have the lg g7 on T-Mobile and have no problems with auto brightness. I obviously can't adjust the brightness on auto because you aren't supposed to be able to, but my phone on auto mode I've found is usually too bright.

On the contrary, you should be able to adjust the brightness while in auto mode. In fact, the other LG G7 models can do this, it seems TMO LG-G710TM is the model that cannot. It's a shame because the G7 is known to be far to aggressive (dim) while in auto mode, probably an attempt to save battery life... See link below for more details.

The main point is that TMO should be working this issue. I have the OnePlus 6T, GS8, and Z2 Force on TMo, no issues adjusting brightness while in auto mode.

Good to know this issue exists on the V30 as well... LG products on TMO showing identical fault. Very interesting.

no no no, it was never bright. I thought there's something wrong with my eye, but after research, I think your eye has the problem or advantage over most of the people.

Wife and I still have autobright issues with LG G7. We are now about 9 months with these phones, and this is by far the biggest complaint. we are constantly being asked to turn up the screen brightness when trying to use the phone to scan a coupon or 4 scanning a boarding pass. If there was a way to adjust auto brightness using the slider, or if the auto brightness was not set so dim, this would not be a bad phone. however, because of the auto brightness problem with the display, I have now shifted my primary to the OnePlus 6t, and my wife is using her old Galaxy S8. I really hope that the LG G8 OLED screen fixes the issues with brightness on the G7.
