Post paid account billed like prepaid?

    I ported my account from Verizon on 10/6/18 to T-Mobile. I received a bill for the full month of service, while on the billing cycle it states the billing cycle is 10/6/18 - 10/7/18. When I called and spoke with a general customer service rep and then a supervisor both advised me that on T-Mobile (even on post paid) accounts you pay for the month in advance. If I am on a post paid account, why would I be paying for the next month in advance? The bill shows my usage from 10/6-10/7/18. So none of their reasoning makes sense.
