We called T-Mobile and although we already had both phones ported over to them, somehow they were still not working. Within two hours after calling (we got disconnected and went to a movie. They did not call us back.), we found our phones was working. Upon leaving the movie theater, I noticed a message stating something about "Smart Lock has unlocked your phone" at the bottom of my screensaver, So I tried calling my wife's cell and it worked! Then I had her call me, and her's worked. Although our "splash screens" still says "Sprint" when restarting, everything else works fine. We're leaving everything else alone. I read somewhere that the splash screen won't change until after an O/S update of some sort. At any rate, everything else on the phone is working fine.

The splash screen can only be removed by a Flash (a custom or factory ROM) . That was set by sprint on the phone itself.
There have been reports that devices that have special ROMs by carriers tend to work on a less than acceptable level on other carriers
(something they put inside the OS that ensures you only use their phones best on their lines)
So, observe your phone well and hopefully you're not one of the guys who had this kind of issues . Note, this was only for the older low range phones.
You can't custom ROM new and high range phones
