Hey there! It sounds like you've been through a lot trying to get this fixed! Digging around, a 506 error definitely appears to be a Google issue because of the number of users reporting the same issue across different devices and carriers. You mentioned attempting third party apps, do you mind sharing what they were? I'd be very curious as to why you're getting the exact same error as that in the Play Store.
I see that you've cleared the cache, have you attempted any other troubleshooting steps? Did you have it on your previous phone and is it possible it was loaded onto your SD card, if applicable? If this appears to be the case, (I realize it's a long shot, but I'm trying to explore all possibilities) you may want to pop into your file manager and remove the file before attempting again.
One interesting suggestion was to dig a bit deeper, clear the cache and data from the Google Play Store, then force stop. Reopen and try again. (If these are the steps you've taken, I apologize. I'm just trying to start somewhere.). If it's still not working, go back into your system>apps menu, make sure you've selected "Show system apps" and select "Google Play Services", clear cache, disable; reboot and try again.
If you have already done this and it still isn't working, try unmounting your SD card, (again if applicable) attempting install, then remounting. Some folks have reported success by simply logging out of their Google account then logging back in directly through the Play store when you reopen.
I'm sorry to write you a novel but I hope something here will help!
Thanks, Magentatechies for your feedback.
1. ...[H]ave you attempted any other troubleshooting steps?"
I did a hard reset once.
2." Did you have it on your previous phone and is it possible it was loaded onto your SD card, if applicable?"
Was installed on the Stylo 3+ and wasn't uploaded to a MicroSD.
3. "...[T]hird party apps, do you mind sharing what they were?"
Alternative app stores like ApkMirror. I sometimes download .apk files from them.
"...506 error definitely appears to be a Google issue because of the number of users reporting the same issue across different devices and carriers."
This issue is isolated with the TMO Tuesdays app only. I have no zero problems installing other apps.
I did some digging internally as well as on the web and this is definitely not specific to the T-Mobile Tuesdays app alone as there have been reports of this on the play store before T-Mobile Tuesdays existed. I am not seeing any other reports of this error internally for this app/phone combination Looking at this thread Error Code 506 on Google Play Store - Support forum the last poster has some steps that he followed to clear this up. Are you able to give those steps a try?
Have you taken a look at the thread Chris posted? Please let us know if that helps. Thanks.
Thanks, guys for the support!
I did a factory reset; problem solved! This was the second time I had to do a reset to resolve a Google
Play Store/Services related issue.
Hurray! I'm so glad you found a resolution!!!
I'm sorry you had to go through the trouble, but I'm thrilled that if if worked!
