If I buy a T-Mobile SIM card and the T-Mobile One plan today on the T-Mobile site, will my billing cycle start today (and will I be billed today) or does my billing cycle start when I activate the SIM card (activate the T-Mobile One service)? It says it must be activated in the U.S. on the T-Mobile network before going on an international trip, and I'll need it on an international trip next month.
My issue is that I'm leaving on the international trip on May 4th, and I don't need the service until then, so I didn't want to sign up online today and be billed for a half-month (now until May 4th) that I won't use. Is there a way to avoid that and just start the billing cycle around May 4th or a few days earlier?
Hello, meko1999 and welcome to our Support Community!
Great questions! Your SIM and plan are activated on the date of purchase which is also when your bill cycle would start. You'll be billed from that date on but if you have a postpaid account, your first payment wouldn't be due at the time of activation. My best recommendation would be to stop by a T-Mobile Store a day or two before you leave to pick up your SIM and test it out in your phone.
What type of phone do you plan on using? You'll want to make sure you're set-up to leave the country by going through this checklist: International roaming checklist.
