Can you go to the school and request that they notify you using a different email? It sounds like its something with their system if its only happening with notifications from the school.

No, it happens with all email systems. The school is the reason it makes it very important for it to work.

Awe sorry about that I misunderstood. So to clarify it happens with anyone that emails you and regardless of what email you are using correct. If the previous statements are correct can you try using a different app for example to retrieve your emails for you. For example gmail inbox app.

Are you saying that using a different app for SMS/MMS instead of the default Android Messenger should work? I can give that a try and see if it makes any difference.

No, I'm saying that you should use a different mailing app. For example, if you use Outlook to check all your emails than try using Gmail. You could also try logging into the place that you get your emails directly on the web however this method would not allow for notifications like Outlook would on the device.

Maybe you misunderstood the problem I am having. Emails are working fine.
The issue is an email client trying to send it to the T-Mobile SMS gateway. T-Mobile's SMS gateway converts HTML or RTF formatted emails into MMS (the same also happens for plain text emails over a certain size) and that is where the problem is. Once the SMS/MMS reaches my phone, I see the notification but the MMS is coming through as an attachment and it always fails to download. So I know there is a text message but the contents are missing.
Looks like using a different application for SMS/MMS resolves the issue. I used Textra and it seems to be working. So in essence looks like some issue with Android Messenger.
Yay!
