The imei# should be on the box unless if it was a refurb in a white box.
I know that this is an older thread, but I just wanted to share (in case anyone else comes to this thread with a similar question / situation).
I, myself, have a v30+ which had to be ordered from T-Mobile and I was able to successfully validate my phone and its purchase using the receipt from T-Mobile that was emailed to me during my purchase which showed:
1) Where I purchased
2) What I purchased
3) How much was it purchased for
4) What account is was purchased on/for
5) Who purchased and how
There was no IMEI information on the receipt (because there just isn't one) and LG approved it without issue so here's to hoping everyone else has a similarly positive experience.
I am in the exact same boat, but LG is refusing to accept my receipt because it doesn't show IMEI. No idea what to do.
Following up for anyone else having this question:
I actually took the IMEI sticker off the box and put it on the receipt I was sent by tmobile. Scanned it, sent it in. They accepted it.
