Did you meet all the requirements to unlock the phone? They may have given you the canned response it takes up to 48 hours jargon, but if you don't meet the requirements it will be denied.

In addition to what tidbits wrote, I think we need more information. Did you buy your phone from T-Mobile? What make and model is the phone. How long have you had T-Mobile service? Do you meet the unlock requirements linked in the message above? T-Mobile is not in the business of selling phones. They sell phones for the benefit of their customers and have fairly liberal policies about unlocking phones but without T-Mobile service, someone can't just walk in, buy a phone and expect them to unlock it.
