I canceled T-Mobile the first week of a new billing cycle -- but I'm being charged for a full months service

I ported out my numbers to a different carrier the first week of my cycle and I just received a bill for the typical amount of a full months service.

I called T-Mobile to inquire and they said this is per the Terms and Conditions; if service is canceled during a billing cycle, I will have to pay the full amount no matter when it was canceled.  The customer service agent I spoke with even agreed I should not be charged; I asked to be transferred to a manager, however I waited on hold for 5 minutes and was disconnected.

Can anyone verify this? It seems absurd to me. What if I canceled the first day of a cycle?
