Hey schroedersj5! This is the first I'm reading about this post-update hiccup; are you still having trouble typing on your device? Some of our super users and pillars here frequently recommend a Master Reset after an update, have you tried that out - or any other troubleshooting steps - so far?

Same issue for both my wife and I after the upgrade from 6.0.1 to 7.0 Nougat. So I downgraded back to 6.0.1. After about 2 weeks of dealing with 7.0, I just couldn't take it anymore. And I usually love OS upgrades. I was never able to get the new keyboard to be reliable for me. I was constantly having to use the backspace key.

Oh boy that's no good. Have you tried clearing the cache and data for the keyboard application? It can be very helpful for issues like this. A master reset is a great step you can take as a last resort too.

How do you downgrade back to 6.0.1? I inadvertently got pulled into the upgrade and I seriously dislike it and would like to go back.

jefferies , below is the link to how to get back to stock 6.0.1 , no rooting, doesn't break the warranty flag, etc. All stock. It is a fresh install of 6.0.1, so you will lose everything. So make sure you have a backup. I made a manual backup of everything I wanted, to my computer. And then I also made a phone backup to the cloud as you can restore a backup made from 7.x , and restore it to 6.0.1, which made it fast to get my apps reintalled, data, etc.

Hey schroedersj5 and xenon2000!
I'm just swingin' by to see if your phones are still acting up after the update. If so, have you completed the master reset as recommended?

I gave up and downgraded my phone back to Android 6.0.1 stock. And I am much happier. Hopefully a future update to 7.x will make things better. But I have been told that much of the things I don't like about 7.0 are not better at 7.1.2
