A lot of folks have tried a factory reset without auto restoring any apps or settings and seem to have found that rectifies a lot of issues from the update.

I hate to admit or say this, but it seems that many of the major updates recommend/need a factory reset to function properly after they have been installed.
Biggest thing to remember is backup any data that you can before hand, and for caution remove the memory card (micro SD) if you have one, just to be safe.

I hate this option. Reset to factory settings, then reinstall everything and hope it wasn't in futility. (sigh.) I'll be upgrading to the S8 when it comes out, assuming they don't explode.

Hey muyvago, you could try switching the phone to Safe mode first to see if the same thing happens. If it doesn't, that could mean there's a 3rd party app that's conflicting with the update and causing the issue. If that's the case, uninstalling apps would be an option instead of resetting the entire phone. With that being said, the factory reset would be the last resort to help fix this. Please let us know what you decide to do. Thanks.

Apologies for my late Reply. (I'm currently traveling.) Rebooting to Safe Mode did NOT resolve the issue. What did work, somewhat, was wiping cache partition. I say somewhat, because after rebooting, the Settings app did NOT stop when I looked at Wi-Fi in Connections. However, it did crash again when I needed to change the Wi-Fi connection later in the day. I wiped the cache partition again and got the same result. Wiping the cache partition only resolves the issue one time. As I'm traveling, I don't want to do a factory reset.

Okay, well thanks for giving that a shot. I completely understand not wanting to the reset right now. I do think it's worth a shot at some point when you're ready. It's definitely something from the phone and a reset, as mentioned before, can help fix this.

Hey muyvago! I don't know how long you'll be on the road (or in the air?) but I wanted to stop by and see if you'd been in a position to try out a Master Reset. If you're still travelling, that's totally understandable- just thought we'd check in with you! Hope everything's going well.

I won't be stateside until the end of April. Once I return, I'll probably upgrade to the S8+.
Thank you for your concern
