Ok something strange is happening, with volte off, I can receive a SMS from a number from ring.to. Sometimes it's instant, sometimes delayed by hours. Now a funny thing is, I have another T-Mobile line on another account and not one SMS has been received by my primary phone. Oh, not sure if it matters, I also have imessenger off too.
I'm glad you figured out the workaround on your own and I'm sorry that we didn't get back to you sooner with that info. This is part of a larger issue found here: Re: Help! DIGITS activation has killed my SMS!!!. You mentioned the other line on the account hasn't received SMS'. Is that line associated with the Beta testing or just a normal line?
We have been pushing out some updates recently to address SMS issues. Can you please try rebooting your phone and letting me know if this issue persists.
