Can you try the following:
1. Close the DIGITS app if it is still running
2. Open app, select Login with T-Mobile ID
3. Enter in your email and password
Hopefully that will work, if not please let us know.
That finally worked by signing in with my t-mobile ID and then using my regular t-mobile phone to receive the pin to authenticate the number. The documentation is not at all clear on this process. The app assumes that a phone will have an active SIM number. If someone is using a phone without an active SIM, there are no steps for this use case.
So.. I was able to get into the app, but it will not allow me to make calls as it tries to use the native dialer on the phone and there is no SIm in the phone. It appears that this use case was not thought through.
Trying to use the Digits app on phone with no active SIM:
- Once signed in, have to use the number from active phone to open the app
- Cannot place calls with the app as it forces the calls to be placed using the native dialer on the handset.
- Can only use for text messaging.
This seems to be a glaring oversight.
Try the following since there's no SIM in the device:
Open the DIGITS app
Go to Settings.App Settings
Should be a line for Network Settings, change that to "Use Data Only".
The issue is that the app is getting a little confused by there not being a SIM in the phone at the moment and should fall over to using Data Only, but for what ever reason it's getting hung up.
Please let us know if that works.
