ZTE ZMAX Pro
TMO_Z981V1.0.0B02 was what was on my phone last week.
TMO_Z981V1.0.0B04 was on my phone until today.
TMO_Z981V1.0.0B07 is what I am on now.
These don't seem to be security patches as mine has been on the Sept 1, 2016 patch since day one.
Now I see Nov 1, 2016 patch. No other info though. 45MB seems large for a patch.
Current MetroPCS version.
Theirs included native video calling, but T-Mo's version already had that out of the box. So, maybe Metro is playing catch up, just higher v. numbers.
Yes. ZTE, as well as a number of other Chinese phones had backdoor software that was sending user data to a server in China. Amazon pulled their very successfully selling BLU HD R1 and stopped selling it until BLU patched it. Amazon notified all their BLU customers that a security patch would be forthcoming, which they did in record time.
I am about 100% certain that these patches reflect this.
You can read about the security backdoor by searching it in bing, google or duckduckgo and entering "Secret Back Door in Some U.S. Phones Sent Data to China".
I knew there were security patches and such, and had heard about these back doors, though I wasn't too concerned with that. Seems there were other aspects to the updates involving software tweaks and hardware bug fixes for multi-touch and screen flickering.
