Are you trying to completely disable the screen overlay? You can go to Settings>Apps and then press the gear icon in the top right corner and click on draw over other apps. Select "No" to whatever you don't want to overlay.
Give that a shot and let me know how it works out for you.
not sure what the gear icon is and nothing shows draw over over other apps
Clarify what "screen overlay" is according to your understanding. (Wallpaper, theme, background, etc...)
Hi peppermintpas1! Are you seeing an error message about the screen overlay? If so, Amanda's steps should help you get rid of it - by "gear icon" she means the icon that's shaped like a cog or gear. It's usually in the upper right corner of your phone after you swipe down the screen from the top. Does that help?
