I travelled to India and am here for past 4 months and my phone was working fine, but from past 3 weeks I am facing this issue. whenever I restart my phone i get network for few seconds or few minutes sometimes and then it will show as "No Service" and "SIM Not allowed" in Settings > About > Network. Tried calling both T-Mobile and Apple but no help, and I have also tried factory restore option too but no luck. Finally trying my luck here now, Please help
Hey there! That is super strange! Does the phone get stuck on SIM not allowed or is this something that only appears temporarily? Do you notice if this is something that happens more when you are in a specific area? Also, I have sent you a private message to discuss your username. Can you please check your private message here and reply to me?
It is happening at any location, independent of location whenever I switch off and switch on my device I will get network (Vodafone IN) for some time as i told and then it shows No service and SIM not allowed until I restart my phone again. I thought it could be issue with device, so tried using another SIM in my device and that was working fine. I used my t-mobile SIM in another phone and in that one too same problem (shows network for some time and then no service)
Those are some great troubleshooting steps you used there. It definitely tells us that the issue is not the phone. Out of curiosity, did the other SIM that you put in your phone also belong to a T-Mobile subscriber?
No Its local (Airtel IND) SIM
Thanks for clarifying What is throwing me off here is the SIM not allowed message. This is not a typical message you would see if it was a network related issue. Also, being that the phone is able to get service after a reboot for a short period of time would also rule out a network issue since it can indeed establish a connection. I am leaning toward a hardware issue here with it most likely being the SIM card. Since you already did a factory reset on the phone, we can safely say that the phone is not the issue.
Here is where it gets tricky, we cannot ship replacement SIM cards overseas Do you happen to know anyone out there that has an extra T-Mobile USA SIM card or do you yourself have one?
Thanks for the help!
No I do not have any T-Mobile SIM with me .. But I have someone coming here from USA on 12th Oct. Is it possible to ship replacement SIM to their address?
Totally! You can call our customer service and have them send a replacement to that address and they can bring it to you. You will need to call customer service at +1-505-998-3793 to have them activate the SIM for you once you get the SIM. Calling that 505 number from a T-Mobile device while roaming will ensure you do not have to pay international rates.
Sure... Thank you so much!
