My ZTE Zinger only ever says "2G" even when my Nexus 6 has 4G LTE connection. Why is this?
The phone is supposed to be capable of 4G right?
Where do you live? Does the Zinger support both Band 2 and Band 4?
Some areas have had Band 4 shut off and if your phone doesn't have Band 2, LTE won't be accessible.
Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston among major T-Mobile markets having their AWS 3G/4G networks shut down this summer » Tm… for an incomplete list (as the list ends at summer, I haven't researched if an updated list is published anywhere)
Hey that's a good question cpbreton! Your phone is 4G capable but it connects on a different band frequency. You can see this on the Tech specs: ZTE Zinger page. Have you already tried powering off the phone and turning it back on? Can you remove an cover or case you may have on it to see if that helps?
Yes, I have definitely powered it off and back on MANY MANY times. I have never seen it connect at 4G but my Nexus 6 connects at 4G.
And yes, I have gone in and disabled the "only connect at 2G" not difference.
Thanks! Our coverage map here will show if you're in a 4G area, but it won't show which specific frequency of 4G is supported there. We'll need to have you Contact Us and speak with Tech Support. They can look up your specific address with a more detailed map and make sure the tower's 4G frequency is compatible with your device.
