1 of 1 people found this helpfulHey there! When you are abroad, instead of the usual route to access VM, you have to dial your own number then press * to interrupt the greeting, then enter your PIN. The default PIN is usually the last 4 of your phone number, if not or you can't remember it, you can dial #PWD# (#793#) from your phone, or reach out to T-Mobile to have it reset. Hope this helps!

Hi Mike, Yes it worked while in the US and I am sure it will work abroad as well.
I am VERY disappointed with the level of knowledge of customer service/tech support. I have been on the phone with them about this issues for hours. First two times while traveling abroad and a few more times after I got back and before posting my question. I was told that it was NOT possible to pick up messages from another phone and no one told me to dial my own number to check for messages abroad.
When I tried your idea, I used another phone and dialed my number, after the recorded message came on I pushed * and it asked me for my (phone) PIN number. I entered it and I could pickup the messages just fine.
Thanks for the help.

I'm glad to hear it worked but I'm not happy about your experience with our support team. I'm not sure why you were told you couldn't access it and I know that's no excuse. It's up to us to be knowledgeable and give you help when you need it.

Thanks Mike, I think the problem may be that I have a Puerto Rican area code and always get connected to the (Spanish speaking) Puerto Rican customer service line. Many times I get hung up on when asking for an English speaking agent, or at least I am put back on hold and have to wait a long time before anyone gets back. I thought that, when I signed up for T Mobile, I was getting a service team for my issues and before I requested my old Puerto Rican AT&T number, I did have good service. I don’t know what to do about it and it makes no difference whether I call the 800 number or the International (505) number, except when actually calling from abroad.
I still have other issues, like very slow web page loading to the extent that many times I get a message that the page will not load. My phone also seems not to ring all the time when receiving calls, so out of the blue I get voicemail. I did not have any of these issues with AT&T and I am not sure I can stay with T Mobile, if those issues continue.
Please let me know if you have any solutions.
Thanks,
Robert

Ah, that's a shame. So have you been able to successfully troubleshoot this calling and slow web issue? Another way to get help without having to call us by reaching out to our T-Force team through social media. They have the tool to help and can get the ball rolling on getting some help these issues.

Hi Amanda,
No, I still have problems with slow loading and often no loading, of internet pages. I use my phones as wifi hotspots, just like with AT&T, but did not have this problem. I am in the same location (my house) with several transmission towers around.
I would really appreciate a resolution to this problem.
Thanks,
Robert

Are you only having slow data when using the phone as a hotspot? If you use the mobile data on the phone, is the data faster?

I do most of my transactions on my laptop and Galaxy tablet. They both load slow. We used the same phones as hotspots and at the same location as with AT&T, but the slow loading only started after moving to T Mobile.
I don’t think it is faster using the phone for internet access, but I am not totally sure, because I don’t use the phone much for that.
Thanks,
Robert

For the problem of T-mobile email, I don't have much hope on my emails getting sent. I don't know why either. Not talking about overseas, even at home in Calif. my ATT emails would get stuck at the sent box for days; sometimes just stuck. Then sometimes it would arrive as I have a copy of every email I sent. I thought it was my protocol setup. Not the case. But I found out if I sync it with Google and open my email with Gmail, I have no issue sending or receiving emails.Just a thought....

Knowing if the data on the phone's internet is working fast will let us know if we need to shift our troubleshooting a bit. If you run a speed test on the phone, what's your download speed showing up as?

Hey, Robert! Have you had a chance to run a speed test? If so, make sure to share the results with us. Lastly, I'm wondering if your type of plan is what's causing the speeds to be slow. Which plan do you have with us?

I have been unable to do the speed test and could not find how to perform it. My plan is T Mobile One.
Thanks,
Robert

Thanks for getting back to us with info about your plan, Robert. To run a speed test, you can download the speedtest.net app then follow the steps within the app. Make sure you're not connected to WiFi when you run the test. Make sure to take a screenshot of your speed test results or just simply share the download, upload, and ping stats with us.

I downloaded speedtest net: WiFi shows 0 and Mobile just shows the MB I use, but no speed.
Does T Mobile offer 4G speeds in Puerto Rico?

Gotcha! Thanks for sharing your speed test results. Those results confirm what's going on -- the WiFi is essentially non-existent. That's interesting about the mobile data. Can you share the exact area you're in so I can take a closer look?
Lastly, to answer your question, yes, Puerto Rico actually offers LTE depending on the area. 4G LTE Coverage Map | Check Your 4G LTE Cell Phone Coverage | T-Mobile

Thanks, Robert! I checked out the area and you should be able to pick up a decent signal in the area. What type of Galaxy devices did you bring over? They may not be compatible with the lower frequencies available in the area, but I'd love to take a closer look to see if that's the issue.

The way that voicemail knows that it's you calling, instead of someone else, is caller ID. Frequently when calling from abroad, the caller ID gets messed up, so the system does not recognize who's calling. It's really best to use the Visual Voicemail app. I think that it uses data rather than a phone call, so it's free. In fact, are you aware that calls that roll over to voicemail when roaming are charged as if they were received? AT&T uses a different voicemail system and I think they don't charge for unanswered calls. Many T-Mobile customers just forward all incoming calls to voicemail when abroad.

I have a lot of Robo calls that ended up in my voice mail regularly. I called Team Mobile because I have to go to Asia for 2 weeks and I wanted to know if I will be charged for 25 cents a minute when "calls" were answered by voice mail. The Answer is "yes". While I in Asia, the data and internet is free. Voice calls is 25 cent a min. and voice mail is part of the voice service. So I have my voice mail turned off. Let my family and friends know if they want to get a hold of me, the best is to text me, or Whatsapp me. That can potentially save me a lot of money from these unnecessary voice mail charge.
