Hey there, shelbyfan , so sorry, but I flagged your post for personal info- it looks as though your number is in that screenshot. Do you have the option to edit the post?
-
no options whatsoever

Ok, sorry about that. I'm not sure if the mods can remove the whole picture or what but I'm sure they'll come up with something.
-
I can't even contact anyone. There are no options to pm mods.

I don't have those options under settings. I guess my galaxy so+ doesn't have it yet then. Thanks though.

"Will not work with unlocked phones." Did you read that from a t-mobile post or just hear it being repeated here? I'm looking for official, stated stance on whether or not T-Mobile is supporting their customers who are using phones not current locked to the network so if you read it from their site or a post by one of their employees I would appreciate it if you could link to it.

That's super odd. I'm seeing the T-Mobile S8+ does have the Advanced messaging option. I'm thinking there might be something going on with the software if it's not there.

Is your WiFi calling enabled? I believe it has to be for you to turn on the advanced messaging.
Turn ON/OFF Wi-Fi Calling
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Connections > More connection settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi Calling.
- Slide the Wi-Fi calling switch right to the ON position.
- Select Wi-Fi preferred or Never use Cellular Network to turn on Wi-Fi calling.
**Only, don't choose Never use because it will completely shut off your cellular connection, even if WiFi is turned off. Advanced messaging: Samsung Galaxy S8

Yeah, it's turned on. Is RCS the same as advanced messaging?
-
According to everything I've read, the terms are interchangeable.
-
No, Advanced Messaging is a very different T-Mobile thing than RCS Universal Profile. They seem to point to their Advanced Messaging when you ask about RCS but their instructions are beyond terrible and the community folks here seem to be no more informed than we are.
They have a grid on some of the differences here:

so after checking for a while im assuming the galaxy s8 does not have advanced messaging yet. The funniest part of this is when you message t-mobile and speak to them on chat, they have no idea what RCS or advanced messaging is. Its crazy to think that we know more then they do. Ive been asked what is advanced messaging by them. Horrible.
