It has happened to me, but the rep gave me a $20 account credit to cover the upgrade fee so I allowed an over the phone upgrade.
It's a FEE TMobile. Why hand $20 over when you know what you want and the rep gets paid just to walk it from the stockroom to the counter???

I'd rather not pay them, if they could waive the fee I'd be happy to do it over the phone or in person, but I've yet to find someone that will. I guess that means once my devices are paid off I'll leave tmo

I don't know that is that extreme. All you have to do is tell them that you have been trying to purchase online and give them the error or if you're in the Twitter or Facebook app you can send them a screenshot of what you see. I've never had any problem with a rep crediting me back the upgrade charge when I didn't have the option to use any other method other than in store or over the phone.

I tried doing it through Twitter they won't let the $20 go, but they said
they would waive the Sim fee. I'm still paying a fee either way.

If all you're doing is upgrading you don't need another Sim. Not unless the SIM cards are different sizes and even then there shouldn't be a charge.

I would be adding a line, however I have 6 brand new SIM cards from
previous devices that are multi-size Sims. They expire in a year. Why
would I pay for a Sim when I have 6 of them already?

Well yeah that's what I'm saying too.

At least someone agrees with my point. 6 unused SIM cards, why pay for
more, can make the purchase on the web but the site says "nope, you must
call us"
