I would like the phone to work on another network. When I put in the IMEI on be website you sent, it said t doesn’t recognize the IMEI (I know I typed correctly). Also when I called, customer support said the phone is not blacklisted. I would like to know if it’s unlocked.

1 of 1 people found this helpfulThere's no database of "these are unlocked phones."
If it says SIM not supported, my guess is it's not unlocked.

Hey, jyfan1 -- smplyunprdctble is correct; I'm sorry to say there's not a database that I'm aware of that you can use to check whether a device is unlocked. You can try reaching out to Apple to see if they're able to disclose that information -- I believe what you'd ask is whether the device's "next activation step" has been updated to "open to all carriers". But they may not be able to fill you in on that info, either.
Your best bet in this situation would be to reach back out to the seller you purchased from and explain what's happening. If they're the original owner of the device, they can contact T-Mobile and submit the request to Unlock your mobile wireless device.-

Unfortunately the seller isn’t responding. I have definitely learned my lesson for buying phones online. But I’m still trying to figure out a way to unlock the phone, since I’m assuming it is not unlocked.

Then it isn't unlocked and T-Mobile doesn't have the IMEI in it's database.
Apple has this thing called a US Reseller Flex Policy - Apple Community
It's the dumbest policy to ever exist, and has caused pain for a lot of their users. If you bought it from eBay contact them and tell them it doesn't work as advertised. You should be able to get your money back even if the guy has not responded.

I'm suspecting that it was not unlocked, even though the seller stated that it was and supposedly worked with Sprint SIM card. Unfortunately it's from Facebook (stupid, stupid, stupid!) so I can't send back or find the seller. I am buying a T-mobile SIM card to at least set up the phone (I didn't get the original SIM card, again stupid me). Then I will try to get T-mobile to unlock it, although I am doubtful they will. Any other suggestions? Short of paying service to unlock it?

I'm so sorry you're in that situation, jyfan1. I'm sad to say that there are account and usage requirements outlined here: Unlock your mobile wireless device and unless those are satisfied, we will not be able to unlock the phone. As far as other methods are concerned; we don't support those services.
