This is a great question! If you are on a plan that benefits from our "Mobile without borders" service, you will be able to get full LTE speeds (where available) in Mexico. If there is congestion in the area you are connection from and you have used a significant amount of data, you will see your speeds slow down while in that specific area or until your billing cycle resets.

Wife is there as we speak. She said she is on telcel. The only problem she was having was sending text messages. Receiving was okay. Calling to and from is clear. Just as good as calling from the US. Haven't had much communication with her today. I can see exactly where she is, pretty much, via Google maps. Data (email) works very well with pictures attached.

Thanks for clarifying! Looking at Mexico City, I can see that Telcel is one of our roaming partners so all of her services should work. What specifically happens when she tries to send a text message? Is she getting a specific error message? Can you ask her to please try and change her network to Telefonica and try sending text messages again? It you let me know what kind of phone she has, I can send you the steps on how to manually change the network the phone connects to.

I had problems with Telcel as well, every time I made a call to someone, it would appear as Unknown or No Caller ID on the phone of the person I'm contacting. This was resolved when I manually switched my network to Movistar, but they have problems with coverage in some areas, and Telcel doesn't as much. Another option was AT&T (formerly Nextel) and i could make calls on that too, but only get coverage in Major cities, which is ok for most of the time. Is there something I can do to solve my Telcel issue?

I am not seeing any specific limitations with caller ID in our roaming agreement with Telcel I would recommend that you Contact Us when you have a moment so that our techs can open up a trouble ticket for this issue.

Hi I have had T-Mobile’s US Canada Mexico plan for awhile. I travel back and forth to Tijuana all the time. I used to connect to Telcel Lte with no problem. All of sudden I’m connecting to Movistar 3G only. I tried shutting off automatic connection to search for other carriers but nothing pops up. How can I connect again to Telcel LTE?
Thank you
Bobby

You should still be able to connect to Telcel in Tijuana. When was the last time you were able to get on Telcel? Also, when traveling around in Tijuana, are you able to see Telcel in other locations?

Thank you for getting back to me. I moved away for six months back in July. I was getting Telcel then. I came back for a visit in October and it was Movistar. Ever since I got back on January 6th 2018 it’s been Movistar. My phone connected once to Telcel but that was for a couple of minutes. Before when I was getting Telcel it was as soon as I crossed the border and I got it no matter where I was in Tijuana.

I am still showing Telcel as a roaming partner in Tijuana so this is super weird. Please contact our tech support teams when you have a moment so we can open up an engineering ticket for you.

I have been to Mexico City twice in the last year. The first time my phone switched automatically to tell Telcel without any difficulty. The second time, a few months ago, it was very difficult. I had to call customer service several times, and she was unable to accomplish the transition. I finally went to a telcel office, and they did it for me. I would like to have some simple instructions of what I can do to be sure I connect to telcel. can you give me a brief step by step procedure?
