May not actually have the hardware.
That is the case with the galaxy 3.
The international version has it but all of the us variants don't.

I miss this feature also, but it looks to me like it is not supported on some models of Galaxy Note 2. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_II under "FM radio".

I second that. It's OK to delay some features for technical reasons, but the T-Mobile version HAS the FM Tuner, so HAND IT OVER. It's bad enough that you left out the Inductive Charging feature, and that you're blocking Google Wallet...

It does have inductive charging... Top copper pins are for the NFC, and the middle left pins are for inductive. Samsung has been slacking they haven't released the back plate for the S3.

The tmobile version of the device is missing some internal circuitry for inductive charging. Even with the right cover it wont work. Wikipedia has the details. Ive seen Some hardwarehacks to work around it but those involve soldering

Why remove the pins from the Sprint version, but not the T-Mobile version. I bet it's firmware why it doesn't work and that mod is to bypass what they don't understand.

It's not the pins but rather a charging-IC and some other components on the circuit board.

If you looked at the Sprint version it does not have the pins. It has a completely different board (radios aside). The 7100 has the exact same board and parts number. If the 7100 has it and fm radio then it's all about the FIRMWARE and not the HARDWARE. No company will make the same parts number with two different hardware components or setups. That's asking for trouble.

7105 and the AT&T(this one is rumored to be the same as the T-Mobile version) rather have the same boards. It's not cost effective to have multiple different boards for the same product.

All I'm saying is that the tmo is missing inductive changing circuitry (not the pins). As far as the FM tuner goes... I think it's in there but somehow disabled (firmware, presumably)

All I am saying... Sprint version has it built in and NO other version has it built in. The Sprint version does not have pin accessible as everything is built in(only version to have it built in). The difference is Samsung just like the S3 has it built into the cover which is why they have pins accessible. N7105, AT&T, and T-Mobile are all running the same logic board(same parts number) and they look identicle.
For example... S3 inductive charging backplate.
Notice how it is set up? To say it is intentionally done by T-Mobile and to blame T-Mobile for it is a false accusation without looking at how Samsung makes their inductives work.
As you can see why I said Samsung been slacking. They advertised Inductive when the S3 been around, and I have yet to see an OEM cover by them to purchase for my S3, and I sure the Note 2 works the same way, and probably be forever for them to release it for the Note 2 as well.

I bet the com is disabled, and when and if the inductive charging back plates comes to be then it will be enabled. The current soldering is a bypass of the firmware as it is permantly grounded. You could do the same thing for BT for example on certain motherboards within laptops.

I'd like to know the situation about the FM Radio as well. I know some have gotten off topic but I'd just like to know if there is or isn't an FM radio or is there an app that can be downloaded so that I could have local radio stations for news, local emergencies, etc.? Is it in the Galaxy Note 2 and disabled or can it be enabled?

There is an app called "FM Radio" in the app store. Free of course.

Hi viper43, I went and found this app (I am assuming it's the right one) with the name SUTTON SHIN underneath and I read up on it. It says that it only works for Motorola and will not work for T-Mobile phones. Had there been a correction and it now works on the Galaxy Note 2 (T-Mobile) or did it work at one time and now doesn't? I really hope so because I'm so looking forward to a regular radio that's not steaming. Thanks for taking the time to answer me.

I have been unable to find any FM Radio that's not streaming for the Note 2. When a feature is not included even when the hardware is there is usually to the benifit of the carrier but I can't think of any benefit to T-Mobile for doing this. Do T-Mobile employees frequent this site to answer questions like this? When I was with Sprint employees would answer questions directly related to the carrier that customers could not find answers to on the community forums.

Regulation. Longer delay times on releases, and longer FCC approval.
If the hardware is the same then you can flash the N7100/N7105 with T-Mobile radio's and the radio should work. If it doesn't then something was taken out in the device firmware(which doesn't get updated through a flash), and would require Kies to do from Samsung.

Wrong. Cell carriers do not want FM tuners in their phones (they want to charge for data, not allow free data).

You'd think with today's technology and the many apps, we'd be able to find a way to get an FM radio signal on an Android Smartphone lol!

FM radio is slowly dying. With so many internet options a lot of the companies end up running solely on subsidiaries or on the parent companies dime. A lot of them have already moved over to the internet themselves ironically.

I know, it just would have been nice to have local FM radio stations, but I can use other means of coarse. I guess I'm just a little old fashion and love FM Radio lol. I did download that SKY FM app and it will surely do for now. Hopefully someone, sometime, somewhere can figure out a way to get local FM for the Galaxy Note 2. I'll just keep searching and in the meantime, I'll use my SKY FM app. Thanks for trying to help me

There are ways. HTC's are known to include FM radio. But, in my opinion, in event of an emergency the last thing i need to do is waste my cell phone battery to listen to FM when i have plenty of options around me and in my home.

Like a cheap $10 radio that uses a 9v battery that'll last a week?
