For the past couple of years, regardless of phone (had various Blackberries and now Droids) I have not been able to send texts to short codes. Regardless of the short code, I get a "Service Access Denied" message back. Obviously I've been blocked from texting to short codes. T-Mobile says there are no restrictions on their end and suspect I may be on a national blocked list of some sort. However, no one knows of such a list and how to get on or off of it.
Anyone have any ideas?
It's aways not the sim card acting up... it's the cell phone in any words t-mobile configures the cell phone they even get in their company (that's why your phone is shipped in a t-mobile box instead of the makers of the phone meaning they configure them...)
The few instances I've wanted to send a message to some short codes (the one that instantly comes to mind was a Thrasher's game -- they said to text something to a short code to get it up on the jumbotron, so I tried it) -- I get not authorized.
On the other hand, short codes like Twitter (40404) and GOOGL work fine.
So, maybe it's selective on which short codes work and which don't?
mark have you attempted GOOGL 46645 to see if you are blocked from all short codes?
So I tried the GOOGL 46645 and they work. But like smplyunprdctble, when i'm at a pro sporting event or restaurant offering a promotion, always get "Service Access Denied." I'm pretty sure those are all six digit codes (but not positive). Any ideas?
Well if you can text to google then you shouldn't have any blocking on your account but of course we would want to double check it if indeed there is no blocking then a trouble ticket would be needed, I have sent you a private message respond when you can and TForce will assist you.
Thank you for allowing me to help out with your short code issues and I am glad we were able to get it resolved. I enjoyed speaking with you, and if you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out.
What kind of resolution was it, if I may ask?
I ask because, like I said, I was unable to text certain short codes in the past [haven't tried recently], and I currently shouldn't have any blocks on my account.
I believe that soms short codes are system specific. Like NASCAR/1sprint and American Idol/AT&T.
A big THANK YOU to JOSH and the TFORCE crew for digging in and figuring out this issue for me. I have not been able to use promotional (restaurants, sports teams, give aways/drawings) short codes for several years. Josh monitored this discussion and contacted me directly several times until the problem was fixed. According to Josh all the front-end systems the customer service representatives would have had access to - all showed that I had no blocks of anykind. (Which is why they couldn't help me the handful of times I called over the years). But there were some blocks that advanced customer service/engineering/programming types had to get into and remove.
Everything is working great now!
Are you still have similiar issues? If so, a TT would need to be filed. You can call Tech, or....since you have worked with us so much on the Forums, you know you can email us as well. We would need 3 recent examples of failed Short Codes plus all your account info. We would likely have to contact you for a bit more info, but those are the basics for now.
Thank you fcstmobileusers for the shout out!! I appreciate it.
I cannot say if I'm still having them.
The Atlanta Thrashers no longer exist, so I no longer have a short-code number to try to text to [the only one I've ever attempted that's failed]
Sorry to hear of the Thrashers demise. Test out other codes to see if they work and then let us know.
And thank you for being such a great help on our Forums.
Do you have a suggestion of one to try?
I've always been able to do Twitter and Facebook through short codes [along with the other variants like Amazon.com's updates and that].
The Thrashers short code [to get a message up on the Jumbotron] was the only one I've ever tried that seemed "out of the ordinary" and didn't work.
I personally don't know of any "out of the ordinary" ones myself. I believe FCS short code fail was for something similar to that, putting a message on a jumbotron.
You can try short codes for deals or restaraunts in your area possibly.
Just avoid ones that charge
If you do find one and run into issues, let us know if it works or not.
