Set custom sounds

Notifications

To change the notification sounds, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Sound.
  4. Under 'SYSTEM,' tap Notification sound.
  5. Select the file to use as your notification sound.
  6. If box is grayed out, change Sound Profile from 'Silent' to 'Sound'.
    Note: Items transferred to the Notification folder will appear under 'MY NOTIFICATIONS.'

 

 

Ringtones

To change the ringtone, follow these steps:

 

Ringtone for all calls

  1. From any home screen, tap the All Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Sound.
  4. Under 'RINGTONE & NOTIFICATIONS,' tap Phone ringtone.
  5. Select the file to use as your ringtone for all calls.
    Note: Items transferred to the Ringtones folder will appear under 'MY RINGTONES.'

 

Ringtone for calls from one contact

  1. From any home screen, tap the People icon.
  2. Tap the contact you want to edit.
  3. Tap Edit.
  4. Tap the RINGTONE drop-down menu.
  5. Select file to use as ringtone for contact.
  6. Tap OK.
  7. Tap Save.

Transfer

Transfer music or sounds to use

Some devices require you to transfer music, sounds, or other audio files to the device in a certain way for it to be used for ringtones and notifications. To transfer these files, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable.
  2. When prompted, tap Media sync (MTP).
  3. On your PC computer, an 'AutoPlay' window will appear. Click Open device to view files using Windows Explorer.
  4. In another Windows Explorer window, navigate to the desired music file(s) stored on your computer.
  5. Drag and drop the music files into your phone's disk drive.
    Note: To add a notification, drop the file directly into the Notification folder.
  6. When you are done copying, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray.
  7. Click Safely Remove Mass Storage Device.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Disconnect the device from the computer.
