Connect HotSpot

Connect - Using a Wi-Fi enabled device

To connect your Wi-Fi enabled device to your Mobile Hotspot, follow these steps

 

  1. On your Mobile Hotspot, remove the battery cover and battery.
    • Note: Write down the default SSID and password printed on the label in the battery compartment. You will need this information later when you set up the Mobile Hotspot and connect it to other devices.

  2. Replace the battery and battery cover and then power on your Mobile Hotspot.
  3. On your computer, open the application you use to connect via Wi-Fi.
  4. Select the default SSID for your Mobile Hotspot.
    • Note: If you do not see your SSID, your Mobile Hotspot may have gone into sleep mode. Quickly press the Power key to wake the display and then press the WPS key to broadcast the Mobile Hotspot’s SSID.
  5. Enter the default password.
  6. Click OK.
    • Your Mobile Hotspot’s Internet connection is now available to your connected computer.

Network

Basic Settings

Note: These steps apply only to the orange Mobile HotSpot Software v1.0.1B04.  For the green Original software device, see Mobile Hotspot admin page: T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot (Original software) for network settings.

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is “admin”.
  4. Click Configuration.

  6. Adjust the following settings:
    • Change password (Admin password)
    • Network mode
    • Network Name (SSID)
    • Broadcast network name (on/off)
    • Wi-Fi Security
    • Encryption
    • Password
    • Channel
    • Enable default data limits
    • Enable default time limits
    • Subnet mask
    • Enable DHCP server (on/off)
    • DHCP Address Range
    • DHCP Lease time (in hours)
  7. Use the following table to help you decide which options to select:
    OptionDescription
    Network ModeIf all of the wireless devices connect with the Mobile Hotspot in the same transmission mode, performance will be improved by choosing the appropriate wireless mode.
    Network Name (SSID)Service Set Identifier (SSID). Enter a string with fewer than 32 characters as the name  for your wireless local area network (WLAN).
    Broadcast Network NameDisable or Enable (Default) this function.Enable (select the check box) - The device broadcasts the SSID, and  other devices can search and connect to it.Disable (clear the check box) - Other devices cannot detect the SSID. Connection  will require manual setup using the SSID and password.
    ChannelChoose the appropriate channel to optimize the performance and coverage of your wireless network.
  8. Click Save.

 

 

Advanced settings

Note: These steps apply only to the orange Mobile HotSpot Software v1.0.1B04.  For the green Original software device, see Mobile Hotspot admin page: T-Mobile 4G Mobile Hotspot (Original software) for network settings.

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile Hotspot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is admin.
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. If necessary, click General.

  6. Click to adjust the following settings:
    • Auto-connect
    • Network radios
    • Data roaming
    • Standby mode
    • Alert settings
    • SIM PIN Settings
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Add.

    • Note: If necessary, you can also click Edit to edit an APN profile or Delete to delete an APN profile.
  8. Adjust the following settings:
    • Profile Name
    • APN
    • Authentication
    • User Name
    • Password
  9. Click Save.

 

 

Change Band

  1. Connect your computer to your Mobile HotSpot via Wi-Fi.
  2. On your computer, double-click the T-Mobile HotSpot Admin icon on your desktop or open a browser window and enter http://mobile.hotspot/.
  3. Enter your Administrator password and click Login.
    • Note: The default administrator password is "admin".
  4. Click Configuration.
  5. Click General.
  6. Under ‘Network Radios,’ view which of these three options contains a bullet point to the left of the text:
    • Best available
    • 4G only
    • 2G only
  7. If desired, click the white check box to the left of ‘Show alerts when network coverage changes’ to select the check box and enable.
  8. If desired, click the white check box to the left of ‘Show alerts when roaming’ to select the check box and enable.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Click Save again to confirm.

Delete Wi-Fi network profile

Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. On your Wi-Fi enabled device, open the application you use to connect via Wi-Fi and select the SSID of your Mobile Hotspot.
  2. Enter the Wi-Fi password and connect.
  3. After successful login, your Mobile Hotspot’s Internet connection is available to the connected device.
    • If you do not see your SSID, your Mobile Hotspot may have gone into sleep mode. Quickly press thePower key to light up the LCD screen and then press the WPS key to broadcast the Mobile Hotspot’s SSID.
    • Make sure each Wi-Fi enabled device is connected to the Mobile Hotspot via Wi-Fi and that the Mobile Hotspot is receiving a strong signal.
