Manage memory

To manage the internal memory, follow these steps:

 

  1. Press and hold the Power key.
  2. Touch Restart (if available) or Power Off.
  3. If necessary, press the Power key to turn the device back on.

View free memory

To view the amount of free internal memory, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch and slide the menu upward and touch SD card & device storage.
  4. Under Internal Device Storage, view Available space.

Manage storage

To manage the internal storage space, follow these steps:

 

Keep managing any applications that you install to keep the system running properly:

 

  • If you notice the device having some problems and you installed apps in the past few days, then uninstall all the new apps.
  • Keep your apps updated. Open the Play Store while you have a data connection, and it will check for updates.
  • Read reviews of your apps in the Play Store. Not all apps work well with all phones. Read the customer reviews to see if other people complain about the app not working.
  • Manage or remove apps that run in the background. Background apps use up device resources.
    1. Restart the phone.
    2. In Settings, go to Apps or Application manager, and then Running.
    3. Examine the list of apps running in the background. View applications that are running in memory, and either:
      • Uninstall the third-party apps
      • Clear cache and data

 

 

View free storage space

To view the amount of free internal storage, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch and slide the menu upward and touch SD card & device storage.
  4. Under Internal Device Storage, view Available space.

SD card

Format SD card

Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

 

To format the SD card while inserted in the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the home screen, press Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap SD Card and Phone Storage
  4. If Format SD card is grayed out, tap Unmount SD card.

  1. Tap Format SD Card.
  2. Accept any warning messages.
  3. Tap Format SD card again.
    Note: If you use a pattern lock or password, you may need to enter it.
  4. Tap Erase everything.

  1. Press the Home key to return to the main screen.
  2. If necessary, take a picture in order to test the device. Many devices only take photos if a properly formatted SD card is inserted.

 

 

 

Insert / remove SD card

To insert or remove the SD card, follow these steps:

  1. Push down on the top left corner of the back cover toward the base of the device.
  2. Lift the back cover off the device.

  1. Insert the memory card with gold contacts facing down.
  2. Push in the memory card until it clicks into place.

  1. Replace the back cover and push up on the cover toward the top of the device.
  2. Click the back cover into place.

 

To remove

  1. Push down on the top left corner of the back cover toward the base of the device.
  2. Lift the back cover off the device.
  3. Push in the memory card until it releases from the slot.
  4. Remove the memory card.
  5. Replace the back cover and push up on the cover toward the top of the device.
  6. Click the back cover into place.

 

 

Open or delete files using a computer

To open or delete files on the SD card using a computer, follow these steps:

 

  1. Connect the device to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. From the Home screen, touch the top of the screen and drag down to display the notifications window.
  3. Touch USB connected.

  1. Touch Mount.
  2. The Removable Disk window appears on your computer screen.
  3. Click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer and click OK.
  4. Click the file that you want to delete.
  5. Press the Delete key on the computer keyboard.
  6. When you are done deleting files, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon.
  7. Click Safely remove Mass Storage Device.
  8. Disconnect the device from the computer.
