    Beginning April 11, the Google Nexus 5 received a software update to Android version 6.0.1 MR2 / MOB30D available via Over-the-Air (OTA) and pull down. This update  provides features and improvements

    Check the software version

    To check the current software version, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, tap All Apps.
    2. Tap System.
    3. Scroll down to 'SYSTEM,' and then tap About phone.
    4. Read the version on the device, and check it below:

    Your device can update to software version MOB30D:

    • Review the Requirements to update below.
    • Beginning April 11, you may be prompted to update automatically (OTA).
    • To manually update after April 11, see how to download the update below.

    If the update fails, contact customer care.

    Other versions

    Your device has non-T-Mobile software, and it is unsupported. The manufacturer and T-Mobile cannot update your software.

    To be able to update to the current software version, the below requirements must be met:

    • 50% or higher battery life
    • Data connection
    • Available memory (File size of update: 15 MB)

    Download and install software update

    You can download and install the software update:

    Update software from the device

    To check for updates and download the update from the Google servers, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, tap All Apps.
    2. Tap Settings.
    3. Tap About device.
    4. Tap Software update.
      • If you are not connected to Wi-Fi, you may receive a prompt to connect.
      • If Wi-Fi is not available, tap OK.
      • If the update is not available, you will receive the message The device is up-to-date. If you receive this message, please wait for your device to receive the update via OTA.
    5. Follow the on-screen prompts.
    6. Wait as your device restarts and completes the update.
