To change the notification sounds, follow these steps:


  1. Transfer the music song or sound file to the correct folder as shown above.
  2. From the Home screen, touch Applications.
  3. Touch Settings.
  4. Touch Sound.
  5. Scroll down under Notifications, touch Notification sound.
  6. Scroll to the music or sound file you copied to the phone.
  7. Touch the the desired notification or alert sound.
  8. Touch Apply.




To change the ringtone, follow these steps:


Ringtone for all calls

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Sound.
  4. Tap Phone ringtone.
  5. Scroll to and tap the desired ringtone.
  6. Tap OK.


Ringtone for calls from one contact

  1. Open Contacts or People on the phone.
  2. Touch the desired contact.
  3. Scroll down and touch Ringtone.
  4. Touch a ringtone that you want for that caller. It will not apply to all callers.




Transfer music or sounds to use

Some devices require you to transfer music, sounds, or other audio files to the device in a certain way for it to be used for ringtones and notifications. To transfer these files, follow these steps:


  1. Connect the device to a computer using the USB cable.
  2. From the Home screen, slide down the Notification bar.
  3. Verify the USB connection type is Disk drive. If not, tap it and select Disk drive.
  4. On the computer when the Removable Disk window appears, click Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer.

    Note: If the Removable Disk window does not appear automatically, check that the USB cable is completely plugged in, or try another USB port.

  5. Click OK.
  6. In the Windows Explorer window that opens, double-click the Media folder.
  7. Double-click one of the following folders:

    Note: If the folder that you want is not there, then right-click in the Media folder. Click New, Folder. Enter the name of the desired folder above. Double-click the folder you just created.

    • Ringtones
    • Alarms
    • Audio/Notifications (Go under the Audio folder and then the Notifications folder)

  8. Copy the music or sound files from your computer to the desired folder.
  9. When you are done copying, click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray.
  10. Click Safely Remove Mass Storage Device.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Disconnect the device from the computer.
