Set up mobile hotspot
You can share your mobile data connection with other devicesby turning your phone into a Smartphone Mobile HotSpot.
- Note: When your phoneis serving as a Smartphone Mobile HotSpot, you cannot use the Internet on thephone itself.
For more information, go to www.android.com/tether#wifi. Smartphone Mobile HotSpot – Turn on / offTo turn your phone’s Smartphone Mobile HotSpot on or off, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless &networks.
- Tap Tethering &portable hotspot.
- Tap Portable Mobilehotspot settings.
- Tap Configure Mobilehotspot.
- Under Security,tap one of the following options:
- Open
- WPA2 PSK
- If prompted, enter a password.
- Change the Network SSID if desired.
- Check or uncheck Broadcast network name(SSID) as desired.
- Tap Save.
Turn on/off mobile hotspot
To turn on or turn off a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless &networks.
- Tap Tethering &portable hotspot.
- Tap to select the PortableMobile hotspot check box.
- Your phone starts broadcasting its Wi-Fi network name (SSID)so you can connect other devices and share your mobile network data connection.Your phone’s default SSID is AndroidAPXXXX.
Tethering via USB
To share your mobile data connection with a computer over a USB cable, follow these steps:
- Connect a USB cable to your phone, then to a computer.
- Tap the Home key.
- Tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless &networks.
- Tap Tethering &portable hotspot.
- Tap the USB tethering check box.
- Read the alert and tap OK.
- When done, safely disconnect the device from the computer.
- Your phone starts sharing its mobile network data connectionwith the computer over the USB connection.
