Drivers for computers

To download and install drivers for a Windows computer, follow these steps:


Your phone can share its mobile data connection with a single computer via a Use a USB cable to share your phone’s mobile data connection with a single computer.


To use your phone’s Wi-Fi sharing capability, you must have a Tethering and Wi-Fi Sharing service plan. Tethering works with Windows® 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista®, and Mac OS X. For more information on tethering with operating systems, go to www.android.com/tether.


For Windows XP, you must install the tethering driver on your computer before you can tether. To install the driver, go to www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads.


When you use a USB cable to connect your phone to a computer, you can EITHER share your mobile data connection by tethering OR you can share files—you cannot do both. Do not turn on tethering if you want to use your computer to access your phone’s memory card in order to share files.

Mobile hotspot via Wi-Fi

Set up mobile hotspot

To set up or configure a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:


You can share the mobile data connection from your phone with up to five devices at once by turning your phone into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot(mobile access point).


When your phone is serving as a Wi-Fi hotspot for other devices, you cannot access the Internet on the phone itself.

Turn on/off mobile hotspot

To turn on or turn off a mobile hotspot over Wi-Fi, follow these steps:


  1. From any Home screen, press the Menu sk4Gmenu.png key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Wireless and network.
  4. Tap Tethering and portable hotspot.
  5. Tap Mobile AP.
  6. Tap to select the Mobile AP check box to enable or disable Wi-Fi sharing.
  7. View the warning that mobile data will not be available on your device while it is sharing.

Tethering via USB

To share your mobile data connection with a computer over a USB cable, follow these steps:


  1. Connect a USB cord to the phone, then to a computer.




  2.  Do NOT select a USB mode.

  3.  Press the Home sk4g_home.png key.

  4.  Press the Menu sk4Gmenu.png key.

  5.  Tap Settings.

  6.  Tap Wireless and network.

  7.  Tap Tethering and portable hotspot.

  8.  Tap USB tethering to enable tethering.


Your phone starts sharing its mobile network data connection with your computer via the USB connection.


When finished, disable tethering and then safely disconnect the phone from the computer.
