Backlight

Brightness

To make the screen backlight brighter or darker, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu “Menu_key.png” key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Scroll to and tap Brightness.
  5. Tap Automatic brightness or touch and slide your finger left or right to adjust brightness.
  6. Tap OK.

 

 

Timeout

To change the time before the backlight times out, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu Menu_key.pngkey.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Scroll to and tap Screen timeout.
  5. Select one of the following options:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • 30 minutes

Home screen

Add widget or shortcut

To add a widget or shortcut to the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. To add a widget, shortcut, or folder to the Home screen, follow these steps:
  2. Touch and hold a vacant spot on any Home screen.
  3. Select one of the following options:   
    • Widgets
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired widget.
      2. Touch, hold, and drag the widget to any Home screen.
    • Shortcuts
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired shortcut or shortcut category.
      2. If necessary, tap the specific item to which you want to create a shortcut.
    • Folders
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired folder.
    • Wallpapers
      1. Select one of the following options:
        • Gallery
          1. Locate and tap the desired image.
          2. If desired, touch and slide the box to adjust image area and scale.
          3. When finished, tap Save.
        • Live wallpapers
          1. Scroll to and tap the desired image.
          2. Tap Set wallpaper.
        • Wallpaper gallery
          1. Scroll to the desired image.
          2. Tap Set wallpaper.

 

 

Delete widget or shortcut

To delete a widget or shortcut from the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a widget, shortcut, or folder on any Home screen.
  2. Drag the widget, shortcut, or folder to the Remove trash can icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Release your finger.

 

 

Home screen wallpaper

To change the Home screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, touch and hold the screen until the Add to Home screen menu displays.
  2. Tap Wallpapers.
  3. Select one of the following options:   
    • Gallery          
      1. Locate and tap the desired image.
      2. If desired, touch and slide the box to adjust image area and scale.
      3. When finished, tap Save.
    • Live wallpapers          
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired image.
      2. Tap Set wallpaper.
    • Wallpaper gallery          
      1. Scroll to and tap the desired image.
      2. Tap Set wallpaper.

 

 

Lock screen wallpaper

To change the lock screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

Keyboard

Change default keyboard

To change the default keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold an active text field until the Select Input Method menu displays.
  2. Tap Input method.
  3. Select from the following keyboard input modes:
    • Swype
    • Samsung keypad
    • Android keyboard

 

 

Enter symbols & numbers

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From within a  text entry screen, tap the text entry field to open the virtual keyboard.
  2. Tap SYM to switch to numbers and symbols.
  3. Tap 123 ABC to switch back to text entry.

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

T9 (predictive)

Tap each key containing the letters of the desired word once. If  multiple word selections are available, use the arrow keys to select the  correct one.

1. From within a text  entry screen, tap the text entry field to open the virtual keyboard.

2. Swype and T9 are the predictive text entry modes.Swype is the default.

ABC mode

For each letter, you may need to tap the appropriate key multiple  times. For example, the 2 key contains  the letters A, B, and C. To type the letter A,  tap the 2key once. To type the  letter B, tap it twice. To type  the letter C, tap it three times.

1. From within a  text entry screen, tap the text entry field to open the virtual keyboard.

2. If necessary, tap  to deselectSwype and T9.

3. Tap the Shift key to switch between uppercase and lowercase text.

Number mode

Use the number key pad to enter numbers.

1. From within a  text entry screen, tap the text entry field to open the virtual keyboard.

2. Tap SYM to switch to numbers and symbols.

3. Tap 123 ABC to switch back to text entry.

Symbol

Use the number key pad to enter symbols and special characters.

1. From within a  text entry screen, tap the text entry field to open the virtual keyboard.

2. Tap SYM to switch to numbers and symbols.

3. Tap 123 ABC to switch back to text entry.

 

 

Turn on / off haptic feedback

To turn on or turn off haptic feedback vibration, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll and select Sounds.
  4. Scroll and tap on Haptic feedback to enable/disable the feature
