Bluetooth

Pair Bluetooth device

To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu Menu+button.png key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Bluetooth settings.
  5. Touch  to select the Bluetooth check box to  turn Bluetooth on.
  6. On  the other device, turn on Bluetooth and make it discoverable.
  7. Touch Scan for devices.
  8. On  the Bluetooth devices list, touch the device for pairing.
  9. If  prompted, enter the password.
        Note: The default password is 1234.
  10. Touch Pair.
  11. On the other device,  accept the pairing.

 

 

Turn on / off Bluetooth

To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu Menu+button.png key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Bluetooth settings.
  5. Touch  to select the Bluetooth check box to  turn Bluetooth on.

Turn on / off Emergency Alerts

To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:

GPS

Turn on / off GPS

To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Location.
  4. Touch the Use GPS satellites check box to select (turn on) or clear (turn off).

Network

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. If you have a battery saver app, check its settings. Some battery saver apps disable the APNs or data connection when the battery level gets low. You need to adjust these settings or uninstall the app to keep the data connection working
  2. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  3. Touch Settings.
  4. Touch Wireless & networks.
  5. Verify that the Airplane Mode or Flight Mode check box is cleared.
  6. If you see a Mobile Network check box, verify it is selected.
  7. Touch Mobile Networks.
  8. If you see the following check boxes, verify they are selected:
    • Data Enabled
    • Use Packet Data
    • Data Roaming This will incur charges if you roam internationally, but it is required to receive data when roaming domestically.
  9. Touch Access Point Names or APNs.
  10. Press the Menu key.
  11. Touch Reset to default.

  12. Press the Home key.
  13. Verify the person sending the message does NOT use dashes in the number or saved in contacts. For example: 5552223333 is ok, but not 555-222-3333.
  14. Test your data connection, by accessing a web page or sending a picture message (MMS).

 

Verify and update APN settings

ONLY if the above steps did not correct the settings, then verify the APN settings:

 

  1. Open the Access Point Names or APNs. menu (in steps above)
  2. If there is a T-Mobile APN, touch it. If not, press the Menu key, and touch New APN.
  3. Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    • Name: T-Mobile
    • APN: epc.tmobile.com or fast.t-mobile.com (for LTE devices)
    • Proxy: <Not set>
    • Port: <Not set>
    • Username: <Not set>
    • Password: <Not set>
    • Server: <Not set>
    • MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    • MMS proxy: <Not set>
    • MMS port: <Not set>
    • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    • MCC: 310
    • MNC: 260
    • Authentication type: <Not set>
    • APN type: <Not Set> OR Internet+MMS (depending on software version)
  4. Press the Menu key.
  5. Touch Save.
  6. In the list of APNs, delete all others that may appear. If there is a FOTA APN, you may leave that one. To do this:
    1. Touch the APN you want to delete.
    2. Press the Menu key.
    3. Touch Delete APN.
  7. Verify that there is a circle next to the one remaining APN to show it is activated.
  8. Perform a soft reset.
  9. Test your data connection, by accessing a web page or sending a picture message (MMS) to yourself.

 

 

Manual network selection

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

  1. From  the Home screen, press the Menu mytouch4gmenu.png key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Mobile networks.
  5. Touch Network operators.
  6. Touch Search networks.
  7. Scroll  to and touch the desired network.
  8. If  prompted, touch OK to disable data  services and continue search.

 

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

 

Switch 2G / 4G / LTE

To change the band between 2G, 4G, and LTE, follow these steps:

  1. From  the Home screen, press the Menu mytouch4gmenu.png key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Mobile networks.
  5. Touch Network Mode.
  6. Touch GSM only.

 

 

Turn on / off Airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.

 

To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

  1. From  the Home screen, press the Menu mytouch4gmenu.png key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Airplane mode to turn on or turn off  wireless services.

 

 

Turn on / off data roaming

To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

  1. From  the Home screen, press the Menu mytouch4gmenu.png key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Mobile networks.
  5. Touch Data roaming to turn on (enable) or  turn off (disable) data services when roaming.
  6. Touch OK.

Wi-Fi

Delete Wi-Fi network profile

To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Wi-Fi settings.
  5. Scroll to and touch the Wi-Fi network  you want to delete.
  6. Touch Forget.

 

 

Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Wi-Fi settings.
  5. If necessary, touch the Wi-Fi check box to turn on and view Wi-Fi  networks.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Touch Scan.
  8. Scroll to and touch the desired Wi-Fi  network.
  9. If security is enabled, enter the key  or wireless password.
  10. Touch Connect.

 

 

Turn on / off Wi-Fi

To turn on or turn off Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Wi-Fi settings.
  5. Touch the Wi-Fi check box to turn on Wi-Fi.
