Clear app cache and data

Clearing cache or data from an app can fix some software issues. If you clear data, any data stored in that app is lost, such as settings, login information, and saved games. If you don't want to clear the data, try just clearing cache first. If you still experience problems, then clear data too.

To clear the cache and data for an app, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, press Menu.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Applications.
  4. Touch Manage Applications.
  5. Verify the All tab is selected.
  6. Find and touch the application to clear.
  7. Touch Clear Cache and Clear Data.

Uninstall an app

To uninstall third-party apps, follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap Manage applications.
  5. Tap the application that you want to delete.
  6. Tap Uninstall.
  7. Tap OK.
  8. Tap OK again.

Hide apps

Although you may be unable to uninstall some preloaded apps, you may be able to hide and disable them. This causes them to hide from the Apps menu and not perform updates.

To hide or disable preloaded apps, follow these steps:

  1. From the Settings menu, touch Manage apps.
  2. Touch the All tab.
  3. Scroll down to the app you wish to disable. They are in alphabetical order.
  4. Touch the app name.
  5. Touch the Disable button.
Note: If Disable is not available, it means the app has been updated. Touch the Uninstall updates button. After updates are removed, touch Disable.
  6. Touch OK.
  7. Touch the Home key to return to the Home screen.

Show apps

To show or enable preloaded apps you have hidden, follow these steps:

  1. From the Settings menu, touch Manage apps.
  2. Touch the All tab.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the list to find the app you wish to enable. Disabled apps are at the bottom of the list. They are not mixed with enabled apps.
  4. Touch the app name.
  5. Touch the Enable button.
  6. Touch the Home key to return to the Home screen.
