Bluetooth

Pair Bluetooth device

To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Bluetooth to select the check box and turn on Bluetooth.
  5. Touch Bluetooth settings.
  6. Touch Scan for devices. The device searches for Bluetooth devices and displays a list under Bluetooth devices.
  7. Touch the Bluetooth device that you want to pair with.
  8. If required, enter the password, and touch OK.
    • Note: The default password is 0000 or 1234.
  9. Touch Pair.
  10. The other device accepts the pairing.

Turn on / off Bluetooth

To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Bluetooth to clear the check box and turn off Bluetooth.

Turn on / off Emergency Alerts

To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:

GPS

Turn on / off GPS

To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Location.
  4. Touch Use GPS satellites to select or clear the check box

Network

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. If you have a battery saver app, check its settings. Some battery saver apps disable the APNs or data connection when the battery level gets low. You need to adjust these settings or uninstall the app to keep the data connection working
  2. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  3. Touch Settings.
  4. Touch Wireless & networks. Depends on software versionNote: This varies on different software versions.
    • Android 1.6: Wireless Controls.
    • Garminfone: Wireless Manager.
    • Behold II: Phone Information.
    • Android 4.1 (Samsung): Connections tab then tap More networks.
  5. Verify that the Airplane Mode or Flight Mode check box is cleared.
  6. If you see a Mobile Network check box, verify it is selected.
  7. Touch Mobile Networks.
  8. If you see the following check boxes, verify they are selected:
    • Data Enabled
    • Use Packet Data
    • Data Roaming This will incur charges if you roam internationally, but it is required to receive data when roaming domestically.
  9. Touch Access Point Names or APNs.
  10. Press the Menu key.
  11. Touch Reset to default.

  12. Press the Home key.
  13. Verify the person sending the message does NOT use dashes in the number or saved in contacts. For example: 5552223333 is ok, but not 555-222-3333.
  14. Test your data connection, by accessing a web page or sending a picture message (MMS).

 

Manual network selection

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Mobile networks.
  5. Touch Network operators.
  6. Touch Search networks.
  7. Touch the desired network.

 

Note: The phone detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

Switch 2G/3G

To change the band between 2G and 3G, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Network mode.
  6. Tap one of the following desired band settings:

    • WCDMA only
    • GSM only
    • GSM / WSDMA auto

 

Turn on / off Airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.

 

To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

 

From the shortcut menu

 

  1. From the Home screen, press and hold the Power key at the top of the phone.
  2. Touch Airplane mode to turn on or off.

 

 

Turn on / off data roaming

To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Mobile networks.
  5. Touch to select (turn on) or clear (turn off) the check box for Data Roaming.

Wi-Fi

Delete Wi-Fi network profile

To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:

You can only delete a manually added network. To delete a Wi-Fi network, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Wi-Fi settings.
  5. Touch the Wi-Fi network that you want to delete.
  6. Touch Forget.

 

 

Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless& networks.
  4. Touch Wi-Fisettings.
  5. If Wi-Fi is tuned off, turn it back on to view Wi-Fi networks.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Touch Scan.

 

 

Turn on / off Wi-Fi

To turn on or turn off Wi-Fi, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2. Touch Settings.
  3. Touch Wireless & networks.
  4. Touch Wi-Fi to turn Wi-Fi on or off by selecting or clearing the check box.

 

 

Wi-Fi indicators

To determine when you have an active Wi-Fi connection, refer to these icons:

 

Connected to a Wi-Fi network
