Backlight

Brightness

To make the screen backlight brighter or darker, follow these steps:

 

  1.   From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2.   Tap Settings.
  3.   Tap Display.
  4.   Tap Brightness.
  5.   Tap and slide the slider left or right to adjust brightness.
  6.   Tap OK.

 

 

Timeout

To change the time before the backlight times out, follow these steps:

 

  1.   From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
  2.   Tap Settings.
  3.   Tap Display.
  4.   Tap Screen timeout.
  5.   Tap one of the following options:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute     
    • 2 minutes
    • 10 minutes
    • 30 minutes

Home screen

Add widget or shortcut

To add a widget or shortcut to the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a vacant spot on the Home screen.
  2. Tap one of the following options:
    • Shortcuts:
  3. Tap the desired shortcut.
  4. Complete additional setup steps, if necessary.
    • Widgets:
  5. Tap the desired widget.
  6. Complete additional setup steps, if necessary.
    • Folders:
  7. Tap New folder.
    • Note: You can also tap a current folder to add.
  8. Tap the new folder on your Home screen.
  9. Touch and hold the top bar.
  10. Enter a name for the folder.
  11. Tap OK.

 

 

Delete widget or shortcut

To delete a widget or shortcut from the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a widget on the Home screen.
  2. Drag the widget to the Trash icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Release your finger to complete the removal.

 

 

Home screen wallpaper

To change the Home screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a vacant spot on the Home screen.
  2. Tap Wallpapers.
  3. Tap one of the following options:
    • Gallery:
  4. Tap the desired photo.
  5. Tap inside the frame and slide to move the square to the desired location.
  6. Tap and slide the frame edge to resize.
  7. Tap Save.
    • Live wallpapers:
  8. Tap the desired wallpaper.
  9. Tap Set wallpaper.
    • Wallpaper:
  10. Tap and slide left to scroll through available wallpapers.
  11. When the desired wallpaper is displayed, tap Set wallpaper

 

 

Lock screen wallpaper

To change the lock screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

Keyboard

Change default keyboard

To change the default keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Applications.
  2. Tap Messaging.
  3. Start a new message.
  4. Long touch in the text entry field.
  5. Tap Input method.
  6. Choose one of the following:
    • Swype
    • Android Keyboard

 

 

Enter symbols & numbers

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

To insert punctuation, numbers, and symbols while entering text on the phone, follow these steps:

 

  1. Tap a text field to display the on-screen keyboard.

  2. If you are on the ABC keyboard, tap SYM, to display the number and symbol keyboard.

  3. Tap the desired symbol.

Note: Tap the Shift button to display additional symbols.

 

 

Text entry mode

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

  • Tap ABC to access the alphabet keyboard and enter letters.
  • Tap SYM to access the number keyboard and enter numbers.

 

 

Turn on / off haptic feedback

To turn on or turn off haptic feedback vibration, follow these steps:
