Set up & turn on

To set up and use text to speech, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Text-to-speech settings.
  5. Tap to select the Driving mode check box.
  6. Tap Yes.
  7. Tap Driving mode settings.
  8. Tap to select or clear the following check boxes:
    • Incoming call
    • Message
    • New emails
    • New voicemail
    • Alarm
    • Schedule
    • Unlock screen

 

 

Settings

Text to speech reads messages out loud, allowing you to listen to text or messages instead of reading them. To change text to speech settings, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language and input.
  4. Tap Text-to-speech settings.
  5. Tap to select or clear the following check boxes:
    • Driving mode
    • Always use my settings
  6. Tap to edit the following settings:
    • Driving mode settings (if the Driving mode check box is selected)
    • Default engine
    • Install voice data
    • Speech rate
    • Language
    • Samsung TTS
    • Pico TTS

Open an app

To open apps using voice commands, follow these steps:

Voice dial a contact

To use voice dialing to call a contact, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Applications.
  2. Tap the Utility folder.
  3. Tap Voice Talk.
  4. Tap Confirm.
  5. Tap Agree.
  6. Tap Confirm to read information about how to use Voice Talk.
  7. Tap Finish.
  8. Tap Tap & Speak.
  9. Speak Call [contact].
  10. Tap the contact, if necessary.

 

 

Write a text message (SMS) with voice

To write and send a text message (SMS) using voice commands, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Messaging.
  2. Tap the Compose icon.
  3. Enter the recipient's phone number or name, or tap the Contacts icon to select a contact from one of the following:
    • Contacts
    • Recent
    • Group
    • Favorites
  4. Tap on the Text field to bring up the keyboard.
  5. Tap on the Microphone icon, wait a couple of seconds and begin speaking.
  6. When done, tap Send.
