Backlight

Brightness

To make the screen backlight brighter or darker, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Brightness.
  5. Tap to select or clear the Automatic brightness check box to enable or disable. When disabled you can touch and drag the Brightness slider left or right to adjust brightness.
  6. Tap OK.

 

 

Timeout

To change the time before the backlight times out, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Display.
  4. Tap Screen timeout.
  5. Tap one of the following options:       
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes

Home screen

Add widget or shortcut

To add a widget or shortcut to the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Navigate to the Home screen where you want to add the item.
  2. Touch and hold a vacant spot on the screen.
  3. Tap one of the following options:
    • Widgets
    • Shortcuts
    • Folders
    • Wallpapers
  4. Tap the item you want to add.

 

 

Delete widget or shortcut

To delete a widget or shortcut from the Home screen, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold a widget, shortcut, or folder on any Home screen.
  2. Drag the widget, shortcut, or folder to the Trash can icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Remove your finger.

 

 

Home screen wallpaper

To change the Home screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on any Home screen.
  2. Tap Wallpapers.
  3. Tap one of the following options:
    • Gallery
      1. Locate and tap the desired image.
      2. If desired, touch and slide the box to adjust the image area and scale.
      3. When done, tap Save.
      4. If desired, tap Yes to also  set as lock screen wallpaper.
    • Live wallpapers
      1. Tap the desired image.
      2. Tap Set wallpaper.
      3. If desired, tap Yes to also  set as lock screen wallpaper.
    • Wallpaper gallery
      1. Tap the desired image.
      2. Tap Set wallpaper.
      3. If desired, tap Yes to also  set as lock screen wallpaper.

 

 

Lock screen wallpaper

To change the lock screen wallpaper picture, follow these steps:

Keyboard

Change default keyboard

To change the default keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Language & keyboard.
  4. Choose desired keyboard.

 

 

Enter symbols & numbers

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

  1. While entering text, tap the Number/Symbol(?123 or 123 SYM) key.
  2. If you do not see the desired symbol tap the 1/3 key.
  3. Enter the desired number or symbol.
  4. Tap the ABC key to return to the main keyboard.

 

 

Text entry mode

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. Touch and hold in a text entry field.
  2. In the Edit text menu, tap Input method.
  3. Tap one of the following options:
    • Samsung keypad
    • Swype

 

 

Turn on / off haptic feedback

To turn on or turn off haptic feedback vibration, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, press Menu.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Sound.
  4. Check Haptic feedback to turn on/off.
