Backlight

Brightness

To make the screen backlight brighter or darker, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the main screen, select Menu.
  2. Scroll to and select Settings.
  3. Select Personalize.
  4. Scroll to and select Display settings.
  5. Scroll to and select Brightness.
  6. Press the Navigation key left or right to adjust the screen brightness.
  7. When done, select Save.

 

 

Timeout

To change the time before the backlight times out, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the main screen, select Menu.
  2. Scroll to and select Settings.
  3. Select Personalize.
  4. Scroll to and select Display settings.
  5. Scroll to and select Backlight time.
  6. Select On.
  7. Scroll to and select from the following:     
    • 5 seconds
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
  8. Scroll down to Dim.
  9. Select Edit.
  10. Scroll to and select from the following:     
    • Off
    • 5 seconds
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
  11. Select Save.

  6. Scroll to and select from either Photos or Images.
  7. Scroll to and select the image you  want to use as a wallpaper.
  8. Select Set.

Enter symbols & numbers

To enter symbols and numbers with the keyboard, follow these steps:

 

Using the menu

 

  1. From within a text entry screen, press the Right Soft key.
  2. Scroll to and select Symbol.
  3. Navigate to the desired symbol.
  4. Enter the number corresponding to the desired symbol.
  5. When done entering symbols, select OK.

 

Using the QWERTY keyboard


  1. Slide the phone open to access the QWERTY keyboard.
  2. Press the ALT key, then the desired number or symbol key.

 

 

Text entry mode

To change the text entry or predictive text mode, follow these steps:

T9 (predictive)

Press each key containing the letters of the desired word once. If multiple word selections are available, use the arrow keys to select the correct one.

1. From within a text entry screen, press the Right Soft key.
2. Scroll to and select T9 (English).

ABC mode

For each letter, you may need to press the appropriate key multiple times. For example, the 2 key contains the letters a, b, and c. To type the letter a, press the 2 key once. To type the letter b, press it twice. To type the letter c, press it three times.

1. From within a text entry screen, press the Right Soft key.
2. Scroll to and select ABC mode.

Number mode

Use the number key pad to enter numbers.

1. From within a text entry screen, press the Right Soft key.
2. Scroll to and select Number.

Symbol

Use the number key pad to enter symbols and special characters.

1. From within a text entry screen, press the Right Soft key.
2. Scroll to and select Symbol.
