Ringtones & notifications: BlackBerry Curve 9315

Learn how to set custom ringtones and notifications on the BlackBerry Curve 9315.







To change the notification sounds, follow these steps:


  1. On the Home screen, click the Sound and Alert Profiles icon.
  2. Click Change Sounds and Alerts.
  3. Click Sounds for Selected Profile.
  4. Choose the notification type you wish to change:
    • Phone - Ring Tones
    • Messages - Notifiers
    • Instant Messages - Notifiers
    • Events - Reminders
    • Other Applications - Notifiers
  5. Choose the specific ring tone, notification, or reminder you wish to change.
  6. Edit the desired options you wish to change:
    • Sound Alerts for the specific tone and volume
    • Visual Alerts for the color the LED flashes
    • Tactile Alerts for vibration type, length, and count
  7. Press the Menu button.
  8. Click Save.





To change the ringtone, follow these steps:


Ringtone for all calls

  1. If necessary, select all All from the Home screen to expand the Applications panel.
  2. Scroll to the All panel and tap the Options icon.
  3. Tap Sounds and RingTones.
  4. Tap Phone Ring Tone.
  5. Tap the Ring Tone drop-down menu.
  6. Scroll to and tap the desired tone.
  7. If desired, edit the other settings.
  8. Press the Menu key.
  9. Tap Save.
  10. Tap All Profiles or Current profile only.


Ringtone for calls from one contact

Note: You cannot assign a ringtone to contacts stored on the SIM card or Phone (device memory).

  1. On the Home screen, click the Sound and Alert Profiles icon.
  2. Click Change Sounds and Alerts.
  3. Click Sounds for Contacts.
  4. Click Add Contact Alert.
  5. In the Name field, type the name of the contact alert.
  6. In the Contacts field, type the name of the contact.
  7. Click a contact.
  8. Change the ringtone and alert information for calls and messages.
  9. Press the Menu key > Save.



Transfer music or sounds to use


Some devices require you to transfer music, sounds, or other audio files to the device in a certain way for it to be used for ringtones and notifications. To transfer these files, follow these steps:


  1. Connect your device to your computer.
  2. In the BlackBerry Desktop Software, click Music.
  3. If necessary, select your music source from the drop-down list and click Get Started.
  4. In the drop-down list, select one of the following:
    • To synchronize your complete music library, click Sync All Music.
    • To select specific songs to synchronize, click Sync Individual Songs. Select the checkbox beside one or more songs.
    • To synchronize a specific playlist or synchronize songs by artist, album, or genre, click Sync Music Collections. If you don't see a specific type of music collection, click and select the collection you want to view. Select the checkbox beside one or more music collections. To synchronize a random selection of your songs in addition to the collections of music you selected, click Random Music.
  5. Click Sync Music.


To view your playlists on your device, click the Media icon or Music icon. Your songs that aren't in a playlist appear together in the Music playlist or in their Artists, Albums, or Genres collections.
