Internal memory (RAM)

Manage memory

To manage the internal memory, follow these steps:

 

  • If the device is slow, remove the widgets from Home screens (especially ones that update with information orhave animation).
  • If you are using live wallpaper and the device is slow, turn off the live wallpaper.
  • Remove all unused Home screens:
    • Pinch the Home screen.
    • On the grid of Home screens, drag unused screens to the trash.

 

Task manager

A task manager can view running apps and close them. To use the task manager, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Applications.
  4. Tap one of the following options:
    • Manage applications
    • Running services
    • Storage use
    • Battery use
    • Unknown sources
    • Development
  5. View application information or make the changes you want.

 

 

View free memory

To view the amount of free internal memory, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Under Internal storage, view the Available space.

Manage storage

To manage the internal storage space, follow these steps:

 

  • Check the available internal device storage. It must be over 25 MB for all versions up to Android 3.1 or over 150 MB for Android 4.0+.
    Note: If it is less, the Android system cannot work properly. You must clear more storage and delete more apps using the following tips.
  • Transfer pictures and media to a computer, and remove it from the phone memory.
  • Clear the browser cache, cookies, or history.
  • Clear Facebook app cache.
  • Manage applications. See section below.

 

 

View free storage space

To view the amount of free internal storage, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Storage.
  4. Under Internal storage, view the Available space.

SD card

Format SD card

Formatting the SD card deletes all data on it. You may wish to format the SD card if you want to delete the files, if files or apps on the SD card are not working, or if the SD card is not working.

 

To format the SD card while inserted in the device, follow these steps:

Open or delete files using a computer

To open or delete files on the SD card using a computer, follow these steps:

 

On a Windows computer

 

  1. Connect the included USB cable to the device, then to your computer.
  2. On your computer, click Start and then click My Computer to view your computer’s folders and files.
  3. Under My Computer, find the device name, LG-V909.
  4. Double-click LG-V909 and then double-click Device Storage to view your device’s folders.
  5. Double-click the folder that contains the file you want to access.

 

On a Macintosh computer For Macintosh computers running Mac OS X 10.5 or later, you need Android File Transfer to access and transfer files between your Mac and an Android device running Android 3.0 or later. To download Android File Transfer, browse to www.android.com/filetransfer on your Macintosh computer. Click Download Now. When the download completes, double-click the Android File Transfer virtual disk on the Mac desktop. In the installer window, drag the Android File Transfer character to the Applications folder icon.

  1. Connect the included USB cable to the device, then to your computer.
  2. Double-click Android File Transfer to open it the first time (subsequently it opens automatically).
  3. If prompted, click Open.
  4. The folder LG-V909 will open, showing the folders on your device.
  5. Double-click the folder that contains the file you want to access.
