Bluetooth

Pair Bluetooth device

To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:

 

  1. Turn on Bluetooth.
  2. The device will automatically scan for available devices.
  3. From the list, tap the device with which you want to pair.
  4. When prompted, tap Pair or enter the PIN and tap OK.
  5. On the other device, accept the pairing.

 

 

Turn on / off Bluetooth

To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. Tap the slider to turn it OFF or ON.

Emergency Alerts

Turn on / off Emergency Alerts

To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Notifications.
  3. Scroll to the bottom section Government Alerts.
  4. Tap the slider to enable or disable the following:
    • AMBER Alerts
    • Emergency Alerts

GPS

Turn on / off GPS

To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Privacy.
  3. Tap Location Services.
  4. Tap the slider for Location Services to ON or OFF.

Network

APN & data settings

To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:

 

Note: These settings are automatically set to the correct values with the Carrier Update when a T-Mobile SIM is inserted.

 

  1. From the main menu, tap Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Cellular.
  4. Verify the following settings:
    • Data Roaming: On
    • Wi-Fi: Off
    • 3G Enable: On
      • Note: Changing the 3G Enable function while the device is on an active call may cause the call to disconnect.
  5. Tap Cellular Data Network.
  6. Configure as follows:
    • APN: fast.t-mobile.com
    • Username: <Leave Blank>
    • Password: <Leave Blank>
  7. Enter the following information under the MMS section:
  8. Enter the following information under the Internet Tethering section:
    • APN: pcweb.tmobile.com
    • Username: <Leave Blank>
    • Password: <Leave Blank>
  9. Press the Home button to save the APN and exit to the main screen.
  10. Turn the device off and back on.

 

 

Manual network selection

To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap Carrier.
    • Note: If the Carrier option does not appear with a T-Mobile SIM card in the device, it may indicate the device was not correctly unlocked or jailbroken.
  3. Slide the Automatic slider to the Off position to start scanning for networks.
  4. Select desired carrier.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Press the Home button.

 

The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.

 

 

Switch 2G / 4G / LTE

To change the band between 2G, 4G, and LTE, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Cellular.
  4. Drag the Enable 3G slider to OFF.

 

 

Turn on / off Airplane mode

Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.

 

To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:

 

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Drag the Airplane Mode slider to ON.

 

 

Turn on / off data roaming

To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:

 

  1. From any Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Cellular.
    • Drag the Data Roaming slider to OFF.

    Wi-Fi

    Delete Wi-Fi network profile

    To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
    2. Tap Wi-Fi.
    3. Touch the blue arrow to the right of  the Wi-Fi network you want to delete.
    4. Tap Forget this Network.

     

     

    Scan & connect to Wi-Fi network

    To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:

     

    1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
    2. Tap Wi-Fi.
    3. Tap Wi-Fi to turn on Wi-Fi, if necessary.
      • The device will automatically scan for Wi-Fi networks.
    4. Scroll to and tap the network you want to connect to.
    5. Enter the password, if necessary.
    6. Tap Join.

    2. Tap Wi-Fi.
